I have been running the Fast track ultra with the lastest Avid drivers and Win 8.1
since I found the link here a few weeks ago. I like it a lot. My touch screen is small,
but usable. I was able to record 10 mastering sessions to the Fast track ultra, in the same project without a hitch.
Ozone 5 caused a few crashes,  but I had over 10 instances open at once. Just a minor glitch.

P.S. I like the new Avid driver GUI for the fast track ultra, i`m running a 256G SSD drive.
Things boot very quickly !
When 8.1 is final, I will be going there. Things seem to be working nicely, even on the fast track ultra, which is my back up audio inteface. I feel there is a nice performance increase as compared to win 7. The Win 8 GUI interfaces aren`t mentally taxing, there fun and easily tweaked. It is MUCH better the the standard Win 8.0.

Thanks for the link, it was nice to demo 8.1, I liked it !

The right click to get you the quick menu is not new.

Indeed it is since there is no start button in Win 8.0

win8: start button is hidden:  mouse to bottom left

w8.1 start button not hidden, same result

ATTENTION:::::  NEVER NEVER NEVER  use the REFRESH function without lots of study and preparation.
A client clicked REFRESH when a wireless connection was not connecting.   This option should NEVER be available for general use.   It removed all the programs installed before the w8 upgrade.

I have been upgrading lots of business clients to w8 from w7.  The upgrade is the way to go for these computer uses: why?  cuz the manufacturers do not provide drivers for all the hardware: including F key functions.

The REFRESH removes stuff not included in the REFRESH backups.    A number of REFRESH backups can be created and selected.  Sorta like an image. Only more dangerous.

I like the charms and the start screen better than the menu with the start button even tho it is only a click away back to the old desktop.

No fuss really I would hate for them to change it back to the desktop when Im starting up my computer its fine just the way it is. I was told that I would not get the hang of it straight away and that I should buy a tutorial (if you know about me and tutorials) anyway turned pc on clicked around instantly used to it (I dont know why anyone is crying about windows 8) it works like a charm.

Looking forward to 8.1 hope there is a facility to change it back to starting with the charm screen. My only crit is that sometimes I find windows 8 a bit sluggish even with 6gb. Hope they sort that out!

Dappa I don't understand the angst either. It works as it was advertised  to work.  I find it quicker and more powerful. I have not had a problem with it.

I think some of it is simply anti MS. Others seem to love XP and still resent MS ending support for it.

+1 on Avoiding the Refresh.

Should be called, "Burn down your house and salvage some stuff from the rubble"
