I have been using Cthulhu (vsti chord and arp generator) as a MIDI input for other softsyths, and keep finding that somewhere in between playing, stopping, and recording, the target synths MIDI input will change to display another device (Maschines Hardware input). HOWEVER, when pulling down the drop down menu to further explore it seems multiple inputs are being selected simultaneously: both of the hardware devices that are part of my rig (Maschine and my MIDI keyboard) as well as Cthulhu's.

In the picture above you can see Cthulhu is still checked, while the track input is also displaying Maschine Controller In. Furthermore My Legacy Keyboard is also checked which is causing the problems. I use my keyboard to play Cthulhu which in turn plays my synth - what I dont need is my keyboard also controlling my synth at the same time as this triggers unwanted notes.

Any help with this? It happens with both simple tracks and split tracks
Also, any way to have Enable MIDI Output saved as a preference when loading a synth? I am currently being forced to open up the browser and manually select it each time.

Save the current track (with Enable MIDI Output checked) as a track template. This way all you'll need to do from next time is insert a new track using the template, instead of loading the synth from the browser.

Bump - I have never done that sort of thing with inputs from one controlling another - I am hoping someone else out there has, so that you can get some assistance.

I did find another forum thread on xxx: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Has-anyone-tried-Cthulhu-in-Sonar-yet-m2757681.aspx

I do not know if anything in there would help you - perhaps a version update is out there to fix that kind of issue, or perhaps something in their knowledge base.

Here is another thread that talks about midi routing of Cthulhu: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5273623

And, in the manual, chapters 3 and 4 cover examples of midi routing for a couple of hosts, though not Sonar: http://www.xferrecords.com/duda/Cthulhu_Manual_v1_0.pdf

I hope any of the above helps you get this sorted out,

Thanks!

I had actually done this already (and paired it with a replaceable synth) but forgotten about it. Would prefer it be a vst specific saveable setting, but at least there is a way.

Thanks Bob.

I am thinking this is a Sonar problem. Cthulhu is working fine, and the routing is solid, but the fact that Sonar is allowing multiple hardware inputs to activate without a user prompt seems like a bug issue.
