  • BitBridge and JBridge - Do you need to spend the 20 dollars on JBridge ? (p.2)

I have the Focusrite LiquidMix, MTron, and Kitcore, and they were all just about unusable in 64bit before purchasing the jbridge. Now they work like a charm. Jbridge is definitely worth the money, for me anyway.

MTron, unless you have the really old, original version is now 64 bit. Check you account and you should find the upgrade files.

Kitcore is a sad case, so much potential but all development came to a grinding halt as soon as Sonoma Wire Works bought out Submersible. It used to be my go-to but I have not even installed it on my new DAW. I may do so at some stage as the midi is particularly good, even if the sounds have been eclipsed by my current drum go-to Superior Drummer.

For the few remaining 32 bit VSTs I still use (Minimonsa, B4 II mostly) I find Bitbridge works fine.  I do have a Jbridge license but do not have it installed at the moment.

I just picked it up and got the e-mail...woohoo!  But alas...I'm not home at the moment...so I'll wait a little more.  Hopefully all my 32 bit stuff will play good with that.  That'd be awesome.

You'll be happy about it. I was worried that all the work I did over the years' would have to be re-edited to instruct Sonar to load (each) new wrapped plugin with the (jbridge in the title' instead of the original) and resaved; happily it auto detects plugins within an older project when you open it, and will now prompt you to choose the JBridge version of it - then save it. Phewww...

Yeah, I like that Ensoniq SQ-80 VST, too.
I still use my ESQ-1 as a MIDI controller ..after I pulled it apart, cleaned all the contacts and soldered in a battery pack to get it running again.

That SQ-80 brought back fond memories - pretty easy to program, too.

I was surprised how well the SQ-80 VST was done.... for something free! I had two SQ-80's back in the late 80's MIDI'd up for more polyphony - this VST sounds exactly like them; with all its granular-like' nuances. If the designer put effects into it, it would be disingenuous to that instrument... it had none.

On my X2 all 32bit is running well without any bridge....when installed in 'Programm Files X86', guess this folder is the Windows location for 32bit software.
All 32 is in this folder and have it set/scanned in Sonar Preferences /Files / Folder...
Just dropping this, no experience on bridges and sure they're great.

If you are running 64 bit Sonar and using 32 bit plugins you will be using a bridge even if you do not realize it. Sonar will automatically invoke bitbridge when you load a 32 bit plug in, unless you have JBridge and have told Sonar you want to use it for that plugin.

If you are running 32 bit Sonar 32 bit plugins do not need to be bridged. Unlike Bitbridge JBridge can work "in reverse" and bridge 64 bit plugins into a 32 bit application.

According to the J's Stuff site, It does work in reverse.  Just an FYI.. See Below:
"Using inter-process communication mechanisms, it aims to make it possible to run 32bit plugins in 64bit hosts, 64bit plugins in 32bit hosts, or even bridging 32bit plugins to 32bit hosts, allowing to overcome the memory limitations of a single 32bit process, in this last case.

I found that the bridging in reaper is useful for certain synths if I rewire reaper to use these synths in sonar. Proteus VX, Firebird the new free version, Voyager, zynaddsubfx and sonigen modular all work when I rewire them through reaper now I tried the demo of j bridge but I may not want to use these synths more than what I would with this method. If so I will break down and get J bridge I am finding it fun to play voyager again.

I see that you have the liquidmix working in Sonar using jBridge. I've been trying to get this to work for some time and would appreciate if you could share how you achieved this as at the moment my liquidmix is gathering dust
