Hi, I purchased Sonar X1 Studio after years of working with cubase on an atari ST. Am trying to get started with it but am having no luck. MY set up is an I5 hp pavillion with a usb m audio keyrig 49 and m audio fast track pro sound card. as both of these are USB connections they connected to different usb ports on laptop. Have tried to follow tutorials but get no sound from system. can see that MIDI information is being transmitted as level meters for Midi channel are moving but cannot get a sound from soft synths. Have even purchased Sonar power but this seems to be for persons with a little DAW knowledge. If anyone knows of good online tutorials I can watch would be appreciated. At this moment am pining form my good old Atari which isn't really progress!!

How did you insert the soft synths - as Simple Instrument Tracks or separate MIDI and audio tracks? If the latter, is the level meter of the audio track moving? If not, the inputs/outputs of the tracks are wrong. Basicly, if you use the "Insert>Soft synth" dialogue all the tracks and routing are done automatically for you. Is your audio recording/playback working? Do you have "Input echo" on?

Make sure you have only the Fast Track selected for SONAR in "Preferences" and use it's ASIO drivers.

Sonar Power is for complete newbies and contains everything you need to get you up & running.

I should know, because I knew less about digital audio/Midi/interfaces/sequencing etc than a duck knows about calculus when I bought Sonar 6, so all the answers are there if you read it from cover to cover.
