Ok thanks Grem I got it figured out. The drive was actually F: and it wasn't partitioned so I wasn't seeing it in the list. After I partitioned it then it showed up and the Icon shows 931 MB free and empty. The D: Drive is the Recovery drive so I'm all square now and just have to figure out what I want on the new drive.

Do you all recommend what Scott Garrigus put in the Sonar 1 book ? I have the book and have been using for a few things basic. I may get another drive if I need it when I get further along for some Synths but it will have to be external as there isn't enough room in the HP now.

One thing to look at is be sure that you have a power supply that can handle the added drives.

The normal alphabet of hard drives is:

A:/B: for floppies
C:OS
D: recovery (if that is installed as w/ many OEM OS's - leave that be if you want to be able to restore  your OS)
E: CD/DVD drive - which can be changed if you want - Windows will recognise it no matter what the name.

It is best to develop a system so if you buy a new computer you can just slide your data drive(s) in and SOnar etc. will find the files without repointing.

As John sez, make sure your power supply can handle the extra drives.  Most can, but ....

OK, Now it makes sense.
When adding a HD, you just need to activate... and go into Computer Management and partition/format.
Windows won't add anything...
