Hi all,

I hope I won't catch too much flak about re-posting a previous piece of work ("Ethereal Funk"), but when I put this up a few months back, it only got 6 comments, and I really do value the critiques of you guys (and girls) in here.  Would love to hear a few more crits, especially technical, about how to make it better.

I consider this piece to be my best piece of work to date.  Be sure to catch the surprise ending.

Here's a YouTube link if you're interested in listening.  Thanks so much.

This is a style of music that I dearly love, but could never master.  You did a brilliant job with this, Tony.  I'm surprised it didn't make a bigger splash the first time, but you got my attention.  You have a lovely studio to work in, and I'm sure very inspirational, as well.

I don't remember if I listed to this last time around, but even if so, it was worth listening to again.

Really nice clear mix on this one.   And the variety of guitar tones are sweet; you've got some cool lines going on.   Great use of the stereo field too, on top of a solid arrangement.    Oh, and love the "tape stop" effect followed by the descending synth at 4:27, very cool.

Wookie, Lynn, and Steve-  Many thanks for the listen and the comments.  Steve, Glad you noticed the panning effort.  Lynn, the studio is in my new house and I haven't even hung pictures on the wall or any acoustic material yet...  LOL  (But the room is so shaped I may not need any...for real!)

Hi Tony,

Creating a video is such a good idea, with all the info given about the making of the track. So a big plus 1 for that

I'm afraid I'm not nearly enough qualified to give a technical critique. I play guitar, but not very well. All I can do is appreciate your excellent playing. I have to use loads of distortion and echo to hide my lack of ability. Your guitar tones were a pleasure to listen to... As well as the playing, of course... I wish I could play that well.

Overall, I thought the track was well balanced and sounded great.

Sorry I couldn't give any more than simple appreciation

cheers

Didn't I comment on this the first time? I can't remember...

Anyway, cool tune and sweet guitar tone throughout. I love the groove as well, and the flair bits you added with the cinematic percussion.

Regards,
Dan

I remember, I did comment! Great guitar work and I thought your video idea was a winner, too.

andy-  Thanks for those comments.....greatly appreciated.  I just recently started the (boring) task of practicing scales.  It has helped tremendously in the last year...a year ago I could never play those notes!  LOL

Tom and Dan-  Thanks for giving my tune a 2nd listen.  The video is always fun to make.
