To Lee (and others)...I strongly suggest you look at samplitude.  I am finding it powerful and not totally dissimilar to sonar.

+1

..first of all, let's keep SONAR alive...
but in case ya lookin' for some serious stuff out there, give a look to SAMPLITUDE... I already been working with it for a long time now (see my signature, below...)
Powerful MIDI-PIANO ROLL-DRUM-SCORE Editor, superior Audio mixing and Mastering... and on the market for Windows Platform since ever....

I really can't understand this rush towards "PRESONUS STUDIO One this and that"... as if it were "the" solution...

Sure, matter of personal taste, but SAMPLITUDE has history and tools to make Studio One look like a joke in comparison... actually....

Just bought it. Couldn't resist the spectacular deal that Magix was kind enough to extend. I haven't had time to do much with it yet but I'll check it out soon. In the meantime, Sonar is still working and I'm having lots of fun with Mixcraft!

++++++++++++1!!!
Come on Gibson sell at a loss!!!  You still get the tax break!!!

Because Gibson started selling "Lifetime Memberships"  in 2016 it seems like it would be hard to get someone to buy the Sonar code with so much excess baggage (i.e. existing customers who will expect free upgrades).  It would definitely have to come out as a different product, under a different name.  Even then it would be a pretty big gamble that there wouldn't be some class action thingy.

It makes one wonder whether Gibson did this because
1) they were desperate to get cash in hand or
2) did they mean poison the water around Sonar.

I may be cynical but I am guessing the person who came up with the lifetime membership has an MBA, got a big bonus last year and has run off to screw up some other company.  I could be wrong though.

Does leave a very bad taste...

When Gibson made lifetime available I expected them to start providing a lot of teaser wear (other company's) and paid cakewalk add-on's to make up the revenue.  I was very suspicious when this didn't happen.  This plus a lack if marketing make me think the end was known by those in power.
