i had a problem a couple weeks ago: projects that had NI Massive in it were crashing (but Massive was also crashing in stand-alone mode). i spent a few days going through NI tech support's recommendations, and after reinstalling Windows 7 & all my software, Massive was still crashing. turns out, it was my freaking ANTIVIRUS program (AVAST Free) all along.  i uninstalled my antivirus program, and my whole system works flawlessly

If its that bad why not post in a thread what the problem is?  You say have spent lots of money? Where have you spent it, on what?

Then I think it is also important to know that Sonar X2 does work.

I'm reminded how I began building my latest computer.  The first thing I did was find out what hardware gave the least trouble to those on this forum. I kept notes. I read way too many reviews and then assembled the parts.

John, I'm surprised a Platinum member like yourself hasn't already spotted the threads I've started and contributed to over the last 3 months with all of my Sonar issues. And Jlien X - my PC is a custom built Audio PC with Sonar X2 already installed. Forgive me for trusting Cakewalk. So much hostility! I hope you remember what attitude you guys have decided to take towards people like me when YOU experience the same calibre of difficulties. I hope people don't mock you or kick you when you're down.

And for the record - I've not left Sonar. I've simply put it in the background until it gets updated. I've gone back to the stability of Home Studio 7. It's like paradise in comparison. I don't want to start a war here - I think it's a good thing that so many people CAN make Sonar work. Just don't be 'bad winners'. There are people on here who feel really crappy about having thrown money they barely own down the drain. Don't call them 'whiners'.

Well, the hostile attitude came from YOU. I was just a mirror. You should have explained your situation clearly if you wanted nice replies. Don’t expect everyone to read your thread. Don’t say things like “Shame on you” when the problem could be due to your own fault. You use a custom built PC with X2 already installed? How about X2a? Update your signature block. Who sold you the PC and guaranteed stable performance of X2? Before buying the product did you check if the seller offers after-sales support? Checked their refund policy, too? What do you mean by CW are complete silent? You sent them email and got no reply or are you talking about their response on this forum? This is a user forum so they don’t HAVE to show up. And who are this “we” in your first post? Did they also buy a custom built PC and the seller disappeared after they sold it? I think most of the “we” purchased and installed X2 themselves, and if the 30-day free trial worked fine the copy they bought should work fine, too.

Antivirus programs can be a big PITA..... I use Norton Anti-Virus myself. The background scanning can interfere with program latencies since it's accessing every file, including all the samples a synth is loading. The choice is either to setup elaborate exclusion lists in the anti-virus program (if it can do that) or disable real-time scanning altogether whenever you are using the DAW.

The reason I took up your post to answer is because this thread is about people enjoying X2. There are plenty of threads that are not looking at it that way.

It seems that when ever anyone posts something good someone feels the need to post the opposite. Over time that becomes a tiresome thing for many of us.

Also I thought your post was rude.

If you have tried to fix you problems on this forum by posting them good for you. But keep in mind we are just users like yourself. We are not tech support though we do have a good track record in helping.

I hope you get your problems solved and can join us in liking how well X2 does its job.

I'm gonna duck out of this thread. I apologise, You're probably right, I shouldn't have posted here in the first place. Like I said before, I wasnt referring to everyone, just a minority. Peace out.

Just installed the upgrade to X2 and so far everything is working.  Really smooth and snappy.  Hooray!

Are you talking about the upgrade from X2 to X2a? Why did you wait so long to upgrade? It's been out sine last year IIRC.

I did the $49 to X2 from X1 Summer Sale that's on now, then I downloaded the X2A patch.  I know all that's been out a while and I probably would not have upgraded had I not seen the X2 new features video, but it was well worth that price for Rapture alone...actually half price of Rapture.  Plus I'm liking the features on X2.  Running smooth on my relatively meager machine.
