• SONAR
  • Setting loop points during playback sure does crash Sonar a lot (p.4)

Bumping this thread as I don't want to see it die off.  I tried to PM Dan a project but it won't allow me to attach this file type.  Is there some other approach I am missing?

I am also curious if others have the same issue I do - if I select a time range and then just repeatedly click the "set loop time" button there is an audible glitch in the audio every time.  If I click it enough times I eventually get a dropout.  Not sure if this is a Sonar trait or if it is something I can try to address through more tweaking.

You may have to upload the project to something like dropbox then send Dan the link via PM. I don't think the message system allows for large uploads.

As to the loop glitch... why are you clicking the loop button repeatedly? Just testing it out? Anyway put the Performance Module into the control bar and see if that action is causing CPU spikes. I'd say you should just raise your buffers a little. Unless you are recording it's best to use higher buffers to avoid drop outs and crashes. Cheers.

If it allows attachments but not a particular type just change the file extension to send it

Eh? I don't think that would work with such a proprietary file type such as a .cwb or .cwp. I have not however tried changing a cakewalk file extension in such a manner though. The other usual culprit is simply file size. Like how you can't send a wave or other large file through most email providers which is why cloud based services like Dropbox exist. Used to annoy the heck out of me back when I was trying to get songs out to band members back in the day. It was either mp3s through email (and that was limited to a few per email) or handing them a hard copy on a disc, dongle or drive.

I could, as usual, be completely wrong about the file extension but I really don't see that being possible.

" just the raw .cwp file would do"

CWP are only a few megabytes.

so those will usually go through an email client if he will take that.
I would try and contact him and then see what he says.

@beep, file type (and the op said type not size) detection is usually done on extension (.cwp, .txt, .doc, etc) - if a particular extension is blocked you can quite often just change it in order to bypass such a filter; of course, the recipient would have to change it back again to the original extension/type before using it

just checked, the pm tool says "jpg, txt, gif, flac are supported; Max. 3000 kB;" so:
rename the project.cwp file to project.txt or project.jpg before attaching, and include an instruction in the pm to rename it back again

Just PM Dan for his email address and send it to that. You just need to send the project file, not the audio, so it'll be reasonably small. This reminds me, I must email my own when I get home!

I get a blip if I move the loop points during playback, no stop though.
