Working through the Sonar X2 Power book, I am up to the Snap to Grid section.  As I recall, in earlier Sonar versions, if the Snap to Grid function was activated, I could grab a note in Staff View and the snap function worked as the book says it should.  In X2, this generally doesn't happen.  The exception to this is in PRV where I can drag a note to a snapped position and, if the quantization is set so the note durations box is checked, when I go back to Staff View, the notes are at the right location and duration.  This does not happen when I am in Staff View and try to drag a note to a new timing position. I must be missing something.

Ken, it works here. Make sure that your view resolution is the same as your snap to grid setting and it should work.

MarioD - Starting off as simple as possible, I have one quarter note (approximate) entered with a midi keyboard.  It is at time 1:03:240 with a duration of 636.  In staff view, I see a quarter note positioned at beat 3 (in 4/4/ time).  The snap grid is on in the TO position with a 1/4 resolution in the box.  The smart grid box is checked.  In the staff view tab marked view, the display resolution is 1/4.  I have the smart tool activated.  I drag the note to a position around where it would be beat 4 and the staff view shows a quarter note at about beat 4.  However, the actual numbers show the location is 1:03:792 and the duration is still 636.  I would think with the snap to grid function, the location would be 1:04:000 and it would be nice if the duration was 1:000.  I then went to the PRV and, again using the smart too, moved the note to the right (it snapped right to the spot) and when I went back to the staff view and checked the data, the quarter note was at 1:04:000 (but still had a duration of 636).  Do you see anything I am doing incorrectly?
