Greetings!  First, a thank you for the advice I received recently in a previous thread--that advice being to get an audio interface, which I have done.  It's the Roland Duo-Capture MK2, and, outside of a couple of quirks, it's working great.  My ASIO4ALL, etc. issues are in the past.  So, many thanks.
 
However, with my new set-up comes a new problem: When I record audio tracks separately in my Sonar X2 Essential, they don't properly sync upon playback.  Everything's off by a hair of a beat (hair's beat?).  Same thing happened during my sole attempt at using the metronome: out of sync tracks AND metronome click.  At least the glitch is consistent....
 
This problem never occurred before the switch (i.e., the switch from my PC's inadequate sound setup to my Roland duo-capture).
 
My computer is an all in one HP Touchsmart, model 600-1350.  64 bit operating system, and some stuff about the processor I'd type if I understood it!  (I'm looking at the system specs.)
 
I see nothing in my Duo-Capture manual about unsynchronized audio.  I'm asking here in case it's a common glitch.  Could it be a conflict between my audio interface's in and out?

What latency does the card report?
 
Is recording sounding "in sync"?
 
Whats your Playback I/O Buffer size?

My Duo-Capture has a buffer size of 288 samples.
 
I adjusted the Sonar X2's recording and playback buffers to 288 apiece (from 256 and 255, respectively).  The problem remains.
 
More after I see whether or not this posts....

Is latency the "effective latency" figure?  That's 1820.0 msec (for Sonar X2).
 
And, like I said, I switched Sonar's playback and record I/O buffer sizes to 288 to conform to my audio interface's, hoping that would correct the problem.  No luck.
 
Took me several minutes to find my Duo-Capture icon, which is in my Control Panel's "Devices and Printers." 
 
 

The record and playback I/O buffer sizes should be a multiple of 128. They are not intended to be set to the buffer size of your audio interface. http://www.cakewalk.com/D...;Req=Dialogs2.056.html

The "effective latency" is way to high for recording. Check your driver mode in Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording Try setting it to ASIO and use the software supplied with the interface to adjust the buffers to a value of 256 or lower.

Done.  And the problem appears to be solved!
