Hi ladies and gents. My first post on this forum..

I've been in the game now for a few years and have worked on many different DAW's since I started but spent most my time with cubase and pro tools software. I'm still a fan of Cubase and always will be(not so much pro tools), but Sonar opened new doors for me. In my studio I worked with Cubase SX3 and moved onto 5 when it got released. Even though known for it's stability, cubase just started crashing after about two years! I thought it was my pc so i built a new one but still it kept crashing for some reason. I know i could've figured out what the problem was but then i remembered working on Sonar 6 once in a small studio i freelanced at and really liked it so decided maybe it'll be a good time for a change(also seeing that my last cubase crash wiped about 6 projects, paying customers btw, off my pc for no reason).
I spoke to a friend of mine that i know worked with Sonar 8 and 8.5 PE and he told me he's moving over to cubase. So i swopped my discs with his, got some updates from cakewalk and since registering i've not even missed my old DAWs. No crashes so far and a smiling engineer. I'm still trying to get over the initial lurning curve so that's why i joined up here to recieve(and give where i can) advice and tips.
I hope we can help each other out.

You would be better off puting this in the X1 Forum rather than this thread.

Also Sonar broke and got excited ???? What do you meen by it broke ? When it Exited what error did you get ?

Everyone is going to need some more info on what the actual problem is for instance Will it still load ? etc etc

Like I said though you are best puting this in the X1 part of the Forum you are more likely to get help there

I'm just miserable after switching to Sonar X1 from Sonar 8.5. In the last two months I've lossed a tremendous amount of productivity. I've never resisted launching this software more because I don't want to lose my precious play time enduring the pain of trying to get the software to do what I want. I'm taking the hit now because I know I'll want to keep upgrading in the future.

Hi,

I assume that you might have experienced unexpected dropouts or pops ( which you mentioned as "broke" and "exited") during your recording session or playback.
This can be solved by the following.
1. In the Menu Edit- Preferences-Audio- Playback and Recording. Change thew driver mode to ASIO, if you are using WDM or WASAPI. FA101 supports ASIO driver mode.
2. Clic k the tab "Sync and caching" in the AUDIO tab. increase the Play back and Recording I/O buffersize in the multiples of 128. by default, the i/o buffer size will be 256 each. change it to 512 and apply and start play back. if droput happens, again change the i/o buffer size to 768 or 1024.
And this value does not affect the audio quality.

Not a good story for my son, unfortunately.  He started recording his ideas when he was 12 using audacity. He bought a cakewalk UA-1G usb interface which came with sonar le.  He then upgraded to Sonar 7 studio edition because he wanted to do "more" and had so many problems he moved back to Audacity and uses Cubase which came with a new Tascam and digital keyboard that he bought.  Sorry.

standard pc. 3g h/threaded but works ok with audacity and cubase. I think it may have been a faulty UA-1G but now reluctant to go back.  Very little support from the retailer he bought it from. Just wanted to sell Sonar.

Just found out that it was a faulty UA-1G.  Bought from Dolphin Music in the UK.  They have just gone bust.  He did n't realise it was faulty at the time.  Do you know whether Cakewalk had any problems with the UA-1G?

I recently moved from Digital Performer to Sonar 8.5.

After moving several song projects from Digital Performer on the MAC to Sonar 8.5 on the PC, the audio is no longer in sync with the MIDI arrangemenets. The MIDI tracks were easily moved and the audio tracks had to be moved separately. When they were reunited on Sonar 8.5 tracks, the audio tracks are no longer in sync with the MIDI tracks even though all audio clips were placed in exactly the same bar location as before.
Can you suggest the proper Sonar tool or process to re-sync the audio with the MIDI?
Thanks in advance!
