Originally, I used Dr. T's software on an Atari. Later I used Cakewalk on a PC from early windows until about 2006.

When I discovered Live, I used it exclusively until very recently. Unfortunately, my projects are getting bigger and bigger and every time I approach the 32-bit memory limit, Live crashes.

I recently built a 64-bit system and decided to go back to Cakewalk again. It's quite a bit different from the way I remember, but I still see a lot of old stuff (like CAL hasn't changed much).

I like the idea that it is written only for one platform - nothing against MACs per se, they have Logic. That way the developer's can focus on making it work best for that OS.

If I had my druthers, though, I get something that ran on Linux - but that will be a long ways away, I think.

I have been using Sonar since it was ProAudio 9, (can't believe I still have that software and its original box), running on windows (old).. I have followed the upgrade path to Sonar 4, then on to Sonar 8.5.3.. I tried the X1, I dunno, for some reason the new interface was daunting, I had a lot of work to get done on my projects and have never found the time (or the patience) to learn how to do my productions in there.. Please don't flame me over that. Eventually, when time permits I'll give it a closer inspection.. I really like Sonar for it's midi capabilities. They are excellent, and I was so happy when some of my ideas, modal masking for the piano roll, was implemented.. You guys are awesome.. that was huge help. Running Sonar 8.5.3 64-bit, on win7Ult-64bit, it's stable, runs very well with my Delta 1010.. System: home built AMD 6-core 16GB memory, ASIO drivers

Well,
I tried....
The Studio X1 Pro Mega-Bundle.

I purchased it on 22nd of May thinking it would be easy!

Just today I was sent the reg info for X1Pro, but can I find a link on the Roland UK or the Roland USA site?
No.

Please direct me where, i'd like to use X1 Pro over the National Jubilee Holiday this weekend!

Listening.......

Best regards,

I bought Sonar 8 and after a few months I completely was off it, just wasn't for me.

Recently tried the trial of X1 and I'm very impressed, seems to improve alot of the problems i had with previous versions.

If I could somehow manage to make my AKAI MPK49 keyboard work smoothly with it without troubles then I would definitely upgrade and give Cakewalk another chance.

I started out with Cubase at first then bought Sonar 6 (updated to 6.2.1v) Producer edition back in 05...I never upgraded my Sonar, and still use 6.2.1 and absolutely love it..I still have alot I need to learn (as I had only been using the basics)...I also used to get dropouts, until I scrapped my soundcard and started using my E-MU 0404 2.0 USB audio/midi interface. Now I'am not even close to using up resources that would cause a drop out, no matter how many VST's or softsynths I use on a project....A friend of mine started showing me alot of what could be done with sonar (that I had no clues on) before he moved...Glad I found this forum so I can read up on the many things I'm still green on...

Started playing guitar 14 years ago at the age of 13, first recorded at school in the studio they had with my band a year later. Two years ago I got drafted into a band and that's when I got interested in recording my own music thanks to a friend showing me garage band. Went out and bought a line 6 studio pod and Sony's acid studio 8. Using these with a laptop given to me I soon found out acid Studio was ****! Beginning of this year I got a nice some of money and bought myself a new laptop and x1 essentials with out doing my research again so didn't know what to expect from it and may I say I was impressed so with out hesitation I upgraded to X2 studio and although my stuff sounds rough I'm enjoying what I'm doing and starting to get better at it.
