meh
If UAC (User Access Control) is turned off then you don't typically have to "Run As Admin"  It's still a good idea.  Not sure but I think it is really for "mobile" profiles...where a user can log in using different PC's in a network that is using ad (Active Directory).

my 2 cents

Cheers guys!

I'm celebrating my (approx) one million year aniversary as a Sonar user and have never had this issue before But UAC is off - first thing I do because I hate it. I OK through the "Blah Blah Blah..." dialogue and Sonar doesn't actually do anything when I click OK other than taking the box away and start up as normal. This have only showed up once after install previously - as expected (or is that a driver thing that usually pops up?). It's a complete re-install from scratch, which I do twice a year because I have a tendency to mess up my system and it's an old habbit from the XP days. Anyway, registry is fine. No new hardware and there's actually a lot less software installed. I don't think VSTs cause this anyway.

That Ctrl thing is something I will look into however. But don't know what it could do since I'm actually not launching with a hot key. Just the good old double click.

Wait a minute: That Personalization dialogue, it usually shows up after a version upgrade without a HDD formate, right? So this indicates that Sonar thinks it's the first time it's being launched when I double click the icon, right? Or am I way off here?

Well, before I recently upgraded to Win 7 64-bit I was always launching Sonar with Ctrl+F10 and it almost always launched the program without the re-personalization message (still don't know why it succeeded). Once in a while the message appeared and I didn't know why so I just ignored it. Now I'm on Win 7 64-bit and Ctrl+F10 ALWAYS brings up this re-personalizaiton message so I posted it in my recent thread and contacted tech support. The reason why CW ask you to hold CTRL+SHIFT and double-click on the SONAR Icon when you need to re-personalize the program is, I think, because most people run Sonar as administrator so holding just Ctrl and double-clicking the icon wouldn't bring up the message. If you don't know what I'm talking about (which is highly likely lol), uncheck the run as administrator option and hold just Ctrl and double-click the icon. The re-personalization message will appear.

I notice when running as an Administrator I couldn't drag audio files from the desktop (or a folder thereon) into Sonar.  Not a big deal, maybe, but I went back to running as a Commoner again...

[YES!!! This is what I was trying to say when the computer froze up and I kept whacking away at the "Submit" button]
