I just buyed the X2 studio upgrade and wonder, what is the difference from X1 studio to X2 studio version
any major diffrence ?

And is this a full product, like i do not need to have X1 installed at all
for me to install the new X2 studio version ?

I cannot tell you the differences between X1 and X2. I can tell you that the version of X2 that you purchased is the full product and is not dependent on having a prior version installed. You may find the video about transitioning from X1 to X2 helpful.

Yes, I use Free Download Manager. There are also md5 hash values for all the files on a page linked at the bottom of the installation instructions. You can use the md5 hash values with a tool like WinMD5Free to verify the downloaded files are correct.

Yes, definitely use a download manager (that compares checksums or similar), so that you don't spend hours just to get a corrupt download.
 
As far as X1 vs X2, you will hear different stories on that.  My own experience is that X1 constantly froze on my system, while X2 runs just fine (same system).  In addition to the bells and whistles, there were some fixes and tweaks done "under the hood", so I would expect X2 to run better.
 
That said, I know some users have had the opposite experience, so if you haven't tried X2 yet , best to download the demo first and give it a test-run.
 

And DON'T be tempted to remove any previous versions of Sonar, for a couple of good reasons:
 

1. You might inadvertently remove a plugin which is referenced by an earlier project
2. If the newer installation causes you problems, you have the old one to fall back on
3. The amount of disc space consumed is absolutely tiny, so you wouldn't gain any significant HDD real estate

All files downloaded great, sonar X2 studio is installed.

Now i have a question, as i run 64 bit windows, there is
Program files
program files(x86)
Both have the Cakewalk folder.

Question is: " can i just install all my plugins into the 64bit folder "  and have all plugins in one place !
or do i need to install the 32bit plugins in the Program Files (x86) folder, and the 64 bit plugs in the other.

If you keep them separate you'll have much greater control over what Sonar "sees" when it scans for plugins, and will also make trouble shooting easier

yeah i did put the 32 bit plugins in : Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins
and the 64 bit plugins in : Program files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins

to keep those separate, i figured it would probably be the best.

Anyway's up and running X2a now ;-)

I just hope when X3 comes out, that it will be a patch for X2, to X2b.
Can't afford X3 yet, i am not a professional in any way, and got no
income by making music.
 

I also have a third VST path, which I use for any 32-bit plugins that I want to include in my 64-bit Sonar processing, without bringing in ALL of the 32-bit plugins.
 
So, I created C:\Program Files (x86)\VST Plugins, and then within that I have an Effects sub-folder and an Instruments sub-folder.
 
When I have a 32-bit plugin that is likely to be used in 64-bit Sonar, such as TP Basslane, I put it there and add that path to the VST search path in 64-bit Sonar.  This keeps a bunch of unwanted 32-bit plugins from even being seen in 64-bit Sonar.
