Hey all,

Does Sonar log much in the way of events in any of these Windows maintenance tools when it encounters a problem?  Just thought if it did it may point us in the right direction in some scenarios.

Hey Doncolga,

I took a look and I was able to find some Error entries in the Application Log with Source=Application Hang.

My guess is they don't create their own "event source" because it requires Admin Privileges to create the Source itself. Theoretically, they could create the Event Log Source at Install time. Once created, you don't need Admin Privs to append the log. You only need Admin privs to create the log in the first place.

I used to think that Cakewalk took advantage of Windows Error Reporting and Dr. Watson, but I'm not sure those still work the same. Obviously, they have taken to having us upload dumps directly to them (rather than going through M$ if the ever did).

So, Windows adds the item to the log, but SONARPD.EXE doesn't bother. That's what it looks like to me with Sonar X2.
