  • Weird quirk with Sonar and some sequencer type ensembles in Reaktor

Can't quite figure out how this works, but here we go: if I have a Reaktor ensemble on a track and it's a "groovebox" ensemble that starts and stops with the Sonar transport (basically a drum machine that runs without MIDI input), and the transport is stopped, when I click the now time to a new place, it will briefly make audible whatever sound the ensemble would be making at that point on the time ruler. It's kind of annoying because when I'm clicking around on the clips pane, I'm being blasted by drum hits with every click. I'm not sure if this is Reaktor specific or if it's the same with any sequencer type VST.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there any way of stopping it short of muting the Reaktor track every time I'm working in the clips pane?

Could it be that it is the leftover 'tail'?  What happens if you check the box to play effect tails on stopping?

OR, are you saying it is what would be playing at the NEW Now Time location?

Just wondering, (I use Reaktor all the time, but not for that kind of sound)

Hi Bob,

It's not a tail of any kind. You know when you move the play head around, either by clicking in the clips pane or on the time ruler? Well every time I do that, it briefly sounds whatever would be on the drum machine track at that point. It's as if moving the play head makes Sonar start playing from that point, for a fraction of a second. Except the only thing that plays back is the drum machine.

Wow - thanks for the explanation.

I have not experienced that in Reaktor, although I do not use that kind of ensemble.  I will play around with it a bit, later on today, and post back if I can figure anything out.

Worth toggling the "Set Now Time With Full Restart" option in the Track View/Options menu?

Nope that didn't do it.

Bob, if you ever get the chance to check this out, it happens with the "Aerobic" ensemble in the Reaktor library (Ensembles->New Additions->Grooveboxes). I've seen it happen on other Reaktor grooveboxes as well but can't recall which ones now.

I will check it out late tonight, or tomorrow during the day.  I have a boat load of work to do tonight, but WILL see what I can find out about it, first chance I get.

@Sharke - I have to finish building a computer this morning, but WILL look into that ensemble and see what happens - sometime this afternoon.
