What would cause this? Bad Eq tuning or poor recording quality?

wELL, i WOULD SAY IF IT WAS POOR RECORDING QUALITY YOU COULD FIX IT BY PULLING BACK THE RIGHT LOW-END FREQUENCIES. (OOPS caps lock on!). One way to help prevent this from being in your final recordings is listen to your song in Headphones and on a few speaker systems to get a good feel for how your song sounds in a few different environments, that's my advice. -S
 

Very pretty song and the vocals were good, but too low in the mix IMO.  I was also getting a good deal of low end rumble on my speakers which sounded to me like resonance from the guitar body.  Overall an excellent first effort.

Bass a little less, vocals a little more, and holy cow this is a good song. Awesome unpredictablity in the arrangement.
 
The snare is kind of buried somewhere, maybe it could come up, too, even the sidestick.

This is a great piece of work. You say you have only been using a DAW for a year, but I guess you've been producing stuff a lot longer than that?

And to to answer your question I really have not produced or worked with music at all. I love music, and played a little guitar and piano when I was younger. What triggerd this was actually that I downloaded Garage Band on the iPad, and toyed a bit with it. Very fun but very limited (at least the version I had). So started to look into the different DAWs on the marked and got Sonar X3, some studio monitors and a mic. Have to admit the learning curve was pretty steep, but alot of good tips on youtube, CakeTV ond so on. I have made a few more songs now, but this is the only one so far that is finished. (or at least almost finished. Still needs to be finetuned some more)
