....Blue cat is probably copying and pasting old text w/o updating it.  You find help and manuals w/ all kinds of passe info in them.

That's what I was thinking too.   Blue Cat has been around for years, and has had a fairly close connection with SONAR via the DX format going way back.   They'll probably work just fine using DX in SONAR, but that's primarily because SONAR has always had a solid DX implementation - most other DAWs do not, if they even support it at all.

I think I missed the pretty large misunderstanding.

Thanks Noel - I find it really helpful to understand a little more of the inner workings.  My guess is AT is right, it was an old page that got copied over.  It confused me as everything I used to use was DX but most of my plugins now are VST.

Thanks again.

I believe DXi for Sonar went away a while back.

i purchased and trying to install. Got a key and a serial number. while installing I am being prompted to a username and a key....what or where do I get a username? I did recieve 2 emails, on said to use the key below...well there was no key below. and the other was the order confirmation which had a "key" in it. I was able to find the serial number in the cakewalk store. I cannot find any install instructions that mention this username and key.  Did you get prompted for this?
