I am working with SONAR 4 PRODUCER EDITION.  After recording my midi events into a MIDI clip I want to transform it into an audio clip but have not found a way to do so.  In the past I have simply recorded the midi through my mixer into an audio clip however this is more time consuming and also because my mixer isnt great I get a humming sound in the background.

Check Help files for "Bouncing to tracks" or "Freezing" (I don't remember for sure if version 4 had "Freeze" yet). Very basic and easy. It's worth it doing the tutorials and reading the manual.

Yes, the freeze feature was introduced in SONAR 4.

I guess you guys are assuming that he is using a VST'i. I cannot see where the poster made a reference to that. Could be that he/she is using a hardware keyboard, especially since the poster made reference to a external mixer introducing hum. Although even that is up for debate since he mentioned that he had just recorded the "Midi as audio" before.

Yes, you're right. We'll have to wait for the necessary info from the OP. Then again, SONAR 4 doesn't have External Bounce, so going the long way he's done it this far is the only option.

If you are using an external synth, all you have to do is connect the audio output(s) from the synth to the Line Input on your soundcard. Then insert an audio track, set the input to the soundcard, arm the track and press record. The MIDI track will play through your synth (I assume you have that hooked up properly) and Sonar will record the output of the synth on the audio track. That how I had to do it for many years until softsynths were invented.
