Display ghosted data shows the envelopes over the wave form. I always want this on in every track, and it is currently on in every track. My problem is different. In one track, despite the selected Volume envelope, the wave form and the envelopes are dark. Usually, the selected wave form is highlighted (it is in the other tracks).  In the above image you can see that the volume envelope is selected but not highlighted. It's just frustrating. If you click on the volume envelope, it doesn't highlight (I think it thinks that it is already highlighted). So, to get the focus on volume, I shift click pan and then shift click volume. The problem only exists on this one track.

Is the track or clip by any chance locked? Other than that it might be the selection bug. Do you have an earlier version of the project that incorporates that envelope you can check? Have you notice any other strange selection behavior in the project? Once this bug takes hold it general snowballs and affects other areas.

Beep, it doesn't matter if a clip is locked or not - you still get fully editable/highlighted envelopes.

I'm done with this project. It only cost me extra clicks... No big deal. It just left me scratching my head.

I posted so others could see it in case they bump into it.... Well, also to ensure it wasn't a feature didn't know about.

Hmm... I figured the Data lock part would lock the envelopes too. I haven't messed around with envelopes very much yet. My time has been stolen yet again. Is there no way to lock envelopes?

Even Track Freeze doesn't give you the option to freeze automation

Weird. I thought I remembered something about locking envelopes. Gawd I'm so mad I've had to abandon my DAW adventures. Hopefully I'll be back at it this fall. Hope I don't forget too much.

The envelopes get dimmed when I click on another track (even the envelope in focus). It's a trick to get it back into focus, but once back in focus it lights up like normal.
 
Beepster, I haven't heard why you're not able to be working with your DAW. Are you touring or something?

@Jonesey... That sounds cool. I just get to tear down, pack it up, lug it and set it back up again. No real improvements involved. Just a hassle and time wasted. The new room is actually going to be significantly smaller too BUT all that will be in there is the recording stuff whereas now it's all sitting in my living room. I'm hoping it'll be quieter than this crummy place. I can't believe I moved to a tiny town and it's NOISIER than when I lived in the city in a densely populated tourist/bar area. *sigh*

@gswitz... Gotta move. I'm really angry about it. I'll have spent around a couple grand just in moving related expenses in the past 8 months. I could have bought soooo much gear I need with that. I've only really had about 2-3 months to truly study since all this too. The rest has been non stop calls, packing, unpacking, etc. Oh well... hope I can settle down for a while after this.
