Hello all,

Recently, I had a singer record a lead vocal track in X1.  The levels were good, wave forms looked good.  The next day, I had to export that one lead vocal track into another project.  The problem is.... not only did the waves look way smaller once I imported them into the new project, but the entire track was much lower in volume.  It was so low that I had to actually use BOOST to hear it (or, to make it stand out in the mix).  How can I fix this?

Here's what I did to export the track:

-  highlighted the track that I wanted to export
-  FILE, EXPORT AUDIO
-  FILE TYPE: WAV
-  SOURCE CATEGORY:  TRACKS (made sure it was the correct track number)
-  CHANNEL FORMAT:  MONO
-  SAMPLE RATE:  44100
-  BIT DEPTH:  24

On the right, I had the following CHECKED:

-  track mute/ solo
-  track automation
-  track FX
-  bus mute/ solo
-  bus automation
-  bus FX
-  clip automation
-  FX/ synth automation
-  fast bounce

(all of this was just default)

So, it turned the track into a WAV file, I could pay it in Windows Media Player, but importing into Sonar, the volume was dropped, wav forms were much smaller.  Am I supposed to just drag the track onto my desktop and then into the new project?  Maybe that's what I'm "supposed" to be doing?

uncheck all that stuff where it applies the fx and the faders and the mutes and stuff. If you just want the raw wav as recorded you don't need any of that.

-  track mute/ solo
-  track automation
-  track FX
-  bus mute/ solo
-  bus automation
-  bus FX
-  clip automation
-  FX/ synth automation

Further, you might make sure your volumes are at unity (0).

Okay - I forgot to mention - I had no effects or busses.  The vocal track in question has no effects and is routed to the master bus, which also has no effects and is set to 0.

You can copy/paste between projects. Why not copy the track and paste it into the other project?

You can drag the clip to the desktop too.

What level was your fader at prior to bouncing?
