  • Anyone have any tricks for easily disabling all FX *except* for a few key ones? (X2) (p.2)

Probably not that helpful for what you're trying to achieve, but you can disable/enable all your Track FX Bins and Bus FX Bins independently of each other. Just right click in any FX Bin in either category and select Bypass Bins Of This Type.

Nice Steve. I didn't realize that.

I shall keep that in mind, though, Steve.  I do recall this now.  Might be useful in the interim.  Thanks!

Thanks gswitz!  I will give that a go.  Phrygiann, it indeed sounds like groups is what I need to work with.
I don't suppose one could use this to toggle/invert entire effect bins as well.. that would be sweet.

Robert, I don't believe that one can enable any effects after pressing "E" (disabling fx) until they enable all effects again.  That would be an awesome feature and would resolve things nicely... sort of a "solo" feature for effects.

Sorry for any misinformation.  I never really need to do the bypass thing, and was winging it - I could have made that part clear in my post and regrettably did not.  I was meaning to agree with the concept from the post or two above mine, and did not realize you could not actually do things that way.

No worries, thanks for the reply!  I've enjoyed the dialogue and should visit here more often.

Hi,
another idea is to bounce the whole  mix (incl. the fx)and then importing into  a new project just for recording.
Have fun and welcome here!

My method is similar to above except I keep it within the project. Just bounce the current mix to a new track called " Tracking Mix" and then just solo this track and the one I am recording on, globally bypass all the mix fx. When finished tracking, mute the "Tracking Mix" and re-enable all fx and you're done.

Yeah, Paulo.  That would be an option.  I still want to monitor through a plugin when I track, though.  I've had some luck with bringing up a standalone plugin rack in parallel and tracking through that.  Seems unnecessary, though.  Luckily, I think I'm pretty well sorted now with all of the tips from this thread.

You can still have plug-ins on the recording track, just enable the plugs for that track/bus only. Anyway, as you say, you have several ways of doing it now, so you can use each one as it works best for you / the project.

Yeah, if you're CPU is hitting the limit, this is exactly how I'd proceed.
Keeps things simple/integrated... and you'll hear the "monitor mix" exactly as it was...
