I plug in Antares Auto Tune. Set to Male Vocals : Chromatic - and I'm freekin' done.

Oh sorry .. I mistook you for a musician.  LOL.
Just kidding... no flames please.

I don't find that AT worked well for me like that.  It brings too many artifacts (just as V-Vocal would if I use it in auto-correct mode).
I use V-Vocal "surgically" for pitch, time and dynamics.

BTW- steps 1-8 take only a few seconds to perform.  It's the "surgical" corrections in step 6 and listening that take the time.

when anyone finds a plug-in that does everything Filter does I'd like to know about it. Filter was one of a kind, at least from my experience, as was Kantos. I still use both, and it'll bum me out if I have to give them up!!!

they call this progress.... right?

Makes you wonder how they develop some of these plugs doesn't it? I mean, what are they listening to them

Regarding Boost11, it was originally included in Cakewalk's entry level DAW package. It's also available to buy for $49. I don't think it was ever intended to be a high end mastering limiter, given that it was either part of the entry level package or fairly cheap to buy.

They sure don't make it sound like an entry level plug when you watch the instructional video for it on Youtube. They make it sound like the end all be all to limiting. Quote, "Get a pro mastered mix with Boost 11"

Link to the video I'm referring to on Youtube

hey, no worries, man!

i don't have any ego about this stuff.

you and i can hear the artifacts - along with a handful of musicians and industry geeks -

but realistically very few music buyers, or commercial production houses could tell the difference
between a firetruck and a wounded elephant swalllowing a bass clarinet : )

...and incidentally this is no disrespect to them - since this is not what they focus on all day - like you and i do.

in the end, i just need to get work done quickly, and most people can't tell the difference.

i'm not making music to sit on a shelf, i'm making commercial music - which has to be easy and fast.
i'm not trying to find the be all end all most natural purist holy grail of sound shaping orgasms.

i used to to all that surgery for years - 80 million vocal takes, and ten thousand vocal tracks -
all edited to perfection for years and years.

but now, since most people can't tell the difference, i just use the quick, reliable and easy solutions.

again, though - no worries, and one of these days i will def check out v-vocal again,
and explore it more seriously with your suggestions!

thanks again, man - for taking the time.

I would suggest that you don't believe everything you see/hear/read/view on the internet. Including what I write.

I ALWAYS live by that rule, one of very few exceptions being ... for example ... when the instructional video comes from the manufacturer of the product I'm using! :)

Might not be the exact same thing but you may want to have a look at Camel Space

That's one weird thing with Antares - lots of their plug-ins (including some pretty unique ones) were rather short- lived it seems. Filter, Mic Modeler, Tube Warmer, Kantos...

Mastering Limiter: Fabfilter Pro-L hands down, the best.

Simply blows Waves L3, Slate Digital FG-X, Voxengo Elephant, Ozone, everything out of the water. Completely. Your mix will sound exactly like it does only at optimal volumes. It even has creative presets if you are used to L3's & Ozone's digitally coloring & clipping ("near clipping" is a cool preset btw). I love the close up of the transients scrolling by too so you can see exactly what it is doing.

I've seen it sold cheaper than if you go to their web site. It's still in the $150-$200 range though but the others I just mentioned will work & have deals. I know this is an old thread but I'd like to see this plugin get mentioned WAY more. I've tried everything and it's so much better. It's at real mastering quality, not digital. As in, you can do professional paid mastering work with it.
