check to make sure "last touched" isn't engaged on your snap size.
what this does is changes your snap to the last size of a note or clip you touched.
you can see how this works here @ 0:40 seconds

grid works perfectly. turn off last touched and see if that makes a difference :)
autozoom to as I said previously, zooming in changes snap values.
there's a few video out on the changes in snap in x2.
in my opinion they fixed every problem with snap there was in x1 and made it ten times better.
snap is my fav feature in x2.
but it took me awhile to study all the settings to use it to my potential.

I do recall thinking that it wasn't working correctly until I learned all the changes.
then I was amazed at the amount of thought they put in to it in this version.

Nice video!

Sometimes I have mixed feeling about zooming changing the snap values...but on balance, I think it's better to have it and deal with the lesser number of times it gets in the way than vice-versa.

Same feelings about auto-zoom, although I think CW should be insulted that no other DAW manufacturer has stolen the idea yet :)

My snap keeps turning itself off for no discernible reason. It's very very annoying.

Same here.

The first time it noticed it was when I was splitting and moving clips around in a project.

I have a habit of always recording audio with Snap-To-Grid switched on, and set to Whole Measure. I find this incredibly useful if I'm laying down a quick demo of a song, as I can easily split and drag/copy parts to other parts of the song really quickly.

In this one particular example, I was zoomed out quite a bit to see the whole project, and I was copying and moving round verse and chorus parts to quickly flesh out the tune. It wasn't until I played it back that I noticed that none of the various parts were in time with each other. It then dawned on me that I'd been splitting and dragging with Snap-To-Grid switched off, hence the clips were being placed exactly where I'd dragged them to.

It's happened quite a few times since, so I'm now on my guard to check it hasn't switched itself off. I just opened up all my custom templates to check, and they all have Snap turned on and set to Whole.

Another function that seems to toggle itself on and off at random is the Rewind To Now Time Marker. My default template setting is to have it switched on, but every now and then I hit Stop on the Transport (and not 'Pause') and the Now Time Marker stays where it is.

Nothing major, but it's stuff I really feel I shouldn't be having to continually keep an eye out for.

I was really looking forward to this feature when they announced it, but I found it very unintuitive after having used it for a while, so I switched back to 'normal' mode.

I do find using the 'N' key to temporarily change to a secondary snap value incredibly useful though. When I'm comping, I really like being able to switch between 'Whole Measure' for dragging clips around, and '1 Tick' (@ Snap To Zero Crossing) for surgical, pop-free operations.

Snap was such a joy to work with in 8.5.3, but since the release of X, it's been frustrating...

Yes, it's been improved a little since X1, but still not the dependable tool it was previously...

..and Chuck, you're correct that it does now follow the PRVs value... I lose track... ;-)

its funny how sometimes this forum can get out of control, you always seem to explain things very well and carry yourself like a gentlemen keni, I admire that.
what i'd like to see in prv and a lot of other sonar settings is options, options to do this or do that, its really the only way to create the ultimate daw and please a broad range of folks in many different ways.
that kinda all leads me back to colors. which I so desperately hope to have control over someday :)

PS- snap in 8/5/3. very simplified... and sometimes that's the best way. im a big fan of snap in x2 but I got to agree, I did like 8's snap myself.
