OP  , I have know a lot of people that have used herbal edible products with pretty decent success ...
since it is legal where you live you may choose to considerate that as an option

If I get a "migraine", for me:
 
2 Excedrin Migraine vs 6 Advil 
 
The 6 Advil knocks the pain level from 10 to 6, the Excedrin Migraines knock it down to 4.
 
Buttttttt, there's caffiene in Excedrin. That's a plus or minus depending on who you are what your tolerance is.

I may be wrong (or out of line) but maybe eph is in a 12-Step program that would not allow the consumption of those products either.

Oh , I had no idea he was in recovery  ....if that's the case why don't he just ask his sponsor , home group , or any other professional support he may have on hand to help guide him  ...
 
I have 33 years clean and sober one day at a time as of Aug 12 th

Yes, Ibuprofen is incredible.  Very effective for me.
