  • Does Sonar comes with a Microsoft Visual 2015 C++ package?

Hello there,

I have two Sonar instances on my DAW computer : Sonar X3 Producer and Platinum. I've loaded and installed the two last updates, yesterday night, following the Command Center evaluation. (I had never updated Platinum since its initial installation). This morning, no one of the Sonar entities would open and there was a prompt about a missing "api-ms-win-crt-runtime... DLL". The same prompt suggests to uninstall and reinstall the software. I can see the Microsoft Visual 2015 C++ package appearing in my Control Panel / Programs under Win 7 64 bits, alongside previous versions. I've tried to download and install directly from a Microsoft Visual 2015 C++ package, even the repair options and so on with no success. As I fear to go thru a tedious process of reinstalling a heavy DAW with no better result, I'd like to get some light about what is included in the Sonar download and if this will really solve my problem, or if it is a waste of time. I can see that the installations time stamp coincides with my updates date though. So, maybe this is the real solution. Can someone confirm?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Those are run-time libraries used by any application built with M$ tools

And SONAR uses C++ (not to be confused with C# which, naturally, is the same as Db).

Thanks, but my question is, simply put, "Does Sonar installer provide the necessary Microsoft Visual 2015 C++ package in its download?

Later tonight, I just uninstalled Platinum, leaving me with X3 PE. As many error codes popped up, I suspected a registry corruption. So, I made a registry restore from 2 days ago. X3 started to run as usual. Good news, I thought. Now, let's see what happen if I reinstall Platinum... No luck. The installer is unable to complete its job.

Too bad that I cannot find the way to attach my screen captures, apparently. I am a newcomer to this forum.

IIRC, there was a Windows update that needed to be done in some cases.  Are you up-to-date with WU?

No. Some 15 months ago, WU was stuck on an update that could not install for unknown reasons and it was attempting to succeed day after day. Finally, as the system was truly stable and given the fact it is trimmed and used for audio production only, I just stopped WU automatic process. As a matter of fact, Platinum was up and running fine until yesterday. What may have come wrong is that I use System Mechanic Pro to maintain the system and I suppose it made a mess of my registry. Fortunately, it also back up it and I've been able to step back to my most recent registry with success, regarding Sonar X3, but I can't even install Platinum back now.
