Focusrite could be a better look.  They could catch and match PreSonus.  They already make good devices and have very well written, low latency ASIO drivers that work very well with Sonar.
 
Honestly, Adobe, MS, Focusrite, Behringer, e-mu (Creative could also use a boost), and a few others....That is IF Cake will be up for sale/liquidation

I'm not sure there would be interest unless SONAR was cross-platform, or Apple does a serious stumble and falls out of favor among musicians.

well a few people I know of disliked what happened with logic and switched to repear..
it was actually a surprise.
 
the most comment thing I recall,  I have is when they change up the hardware, and kinda force you to buy software again.
 
I know of people who run cubase on a mac, also.. which logic or FCP would be only reason I got a mac.

The fact it is Windows only makes me think Microsoft ro are the only potential buyers which would make any sense. 

SONAR's reputation as a brand has already been destroyed by what Gibson has done and how this was handled. There is no recovery or future from this. Without a team who already knows the code it becomes a liability, and long time users are fleeing like rats from a sinking ship. All of the components required to attract a home are already eroding at breakneck speed.

Ofcourse Sonar will find a new home.
Any product this good will survive.
Question is,who will do it?
Maybe former employees or some company with the right resources.
Might be Gibson themself. After a fresh new start.

I am one of the biggest Sonar fanboy's ever. But I believe it is too late to ever re sell Sonar again.
About a week ago I felt a little different, I probably would have bought Sonar again if a new company had purchased the code and re branded it, but the way this has been handled has me a bit concerned.

For all we know it (the intellectual property) has already been sold. Snippets of logic that might show up in a future Microsoft product or more likely as the basis for some routines within Windows itself. Right now it might be being studied like a cadaver in an old science lab to see how WASAPi drivers can be improved, etc.
Unlikely it ever sees the light of day as a DAW again, IMO.
The greatest hurdle against that in my estimation is the "lifetime updates". A new buyer would be faced with all sorts of old customers looking for a continuation of their lifetime updates, etc. Why would a new owner interested in growing the market want to carry any of that baggage? Far more likely someone like Noel and the others ends up working at another DAW company, that evolves toward something more SONAR-like.

I think a lot of things are changing in this world and a lot of company's that I thought would be around forever are now perished.
"The Boston herald" just claimed bankruptcy this week. They were not pre pared for everyone using their phones to get information and thought paper would last till the end of time. (I did too honestly).
 
But to get back on track, The ole mighty Desktop computer.
Is it just me or are they becoming a thing of the past. Even the laptop.
I mean we use them for DAW's and Gamers use them but everyone I know now uses their phones for everything.
A surface, an Ipad. But the desktop and laptop will probably be diminished in sales in other 5 years.
 
It was a big change going from analog to digital 15 years ago but im curious as to what is next.
