But to get back on track, The ole mighty Desktop computer.
Is it just me or are they becoming a thing of the past. Even the laptop.
I mean we use them for DAW's and Gamers use them but everyone I know now uses their phones for everything.
A surface, an Ipad. But the desktop and laptop will probably be diminished in sales in other 5 years.
I see it as the market fragmenting.
Back in the day, the desktop was all there was. Crunching numbers, games (as they were back then),
typewriter functions and, when it arrived, surfing the net and e-mail, that's all there was.
Now, stockbrokers still need power and four screens, as do scientists and engineers doing
simulations, gamers as you say, etc. will still prefer a desktop.
People typing up letters, doing spreadsheets and presentations on the way to a client
never really wanted a big box on their desk. So the laptop fulfilled that function.
Then there's people wanting to check e-mail, train times, traffic situation...
They don't even want a laptop. So the smartphone fulfills that function.
Smart watches are struggling to find an application. For most use cases,
the screen really is too small.
Less clunky glasses will probably work. In industry and medicine, certainly.
But I cannot see myself preparing a spreadsheet using smart glasses.
