I think the PC plugins are very high quality. I think that if they stood alone (such as CA2A) they would be of equal quality. I would like it if all of them could be stand alone but this is not something that keeps me up at night. To me their quality has nothing to do with the PC. As for the PC I think it was, and is, a wonderful design, it really matches how I want a DAW, particularly the CV, to work. Others may feel differently of course. All of the floating windows in pre X-series Sonar drove me up the wall, others had no problem with them.

me too.....PC plug ins are really easy to use and sound great.

Most of the pre-sets require very little tweaking and they all play well with each other in the mix.  Especially as most of them carve out the space in the mix very well for any instrument.  I actually have then all in track templates, so things are very easy and quick now to get something more than decent sounding almost immediately.

I find myself more and more not using very many of the other plugs i have and only using the stuff baked into cake more and more.   I know pre-sets are looked down upon, but I care not, if it works and sounds great, then why spend time trying to re-invent something that already exists.

I've not used the PC presets in X2, I must get round to giving them a look.  I've often learnt a lot by looking at well designed presets.

Yeah they are just great sounding plugs, and recently coded, unlike a lot of older waves plugs, etc.

Cakewalk simply did a great job.

The thing I'd like to see ProChannel do is to merge itself int the track, and for the track to widen itself to that width. Then, merge the FX bin into the PC, and show thumbnails of each of my 3rd-part plugins. They don't have to be functional, but it the thumbnails were, that would be even cooler. Then, we could have miniaturized versions of 3rd-party plugins.

On the flip side, I think (suspect, more likely) that the effects in the ProChannel are not totally transparent, including the EQ. I don't like that thought, but I get the feeling that could be the case. Is the PC EQ true-bypass when it sits at its default settings? AFIK, nobody has corroborated or denied that. Obviously one could disable it via the blue button in it's upper corner, but what about when it's enabled, but not set to boost or cut anything?

All of the PC modules are well documented Brian and those questions are answered.

The EQ in particular has different settings to add color or not.
