  • Yet another thread about the current lack of an X2b (p.4)

And what, the advice is to move everything to a new project and hope for the best. ??? Careful not to copy over that bug! Sometimes, I just don't have time to start over again and again. When the software works, I'm efficient and happy. I deal with new bugs. Making me inefficient makes me grumpy.

Yes, basic and fundamental functions should not be as problematic as they currently are. My biggest gripe with X2 are the selection issues. If I select a single clip only that clip should be selected. Not some completely random and unrelated clip somewhere else in the project. And if that DOES happen I should at least be able to hold Ctrl and deselect that clip but I cannot. It deselects the one I originally wanted to work with. If I select a range, lasso or use Ctrl A I expect everything in those ranges to be selected. Not random clips being left out of the selection. And all this isn't just limited to the clips pane either. It happens in the PRV and when sometimes when quick grouping to make parameter/filter changes. I should not have to lock every single other clip in a project to work on just one or two. It is tedious and time consuming. Once it starts happening it does not go away no matter what you do and usually it gets worse as you progress. It doesn't happen all the time but with the possibility there I have to be vigilant in checking my selections ever time. This is basic editing. It should not be this hard.

Aside from that my other big issue is with Audiosnap. I know it is a more complex feature but it is glitchy as all heck and a bear to work with. I cannot close an Audiosnap session until it is complete or I lose all my work.

Oh and sometimes when I'm trying to line up clips to the timeline or in relation to other clips the waveforms become obscured so I can't see the peaks. When this happens something that should take one quick move ends up take three or for tries guesstimating how far I have to go. Not very accurate.

Bugs are to be expected but these types of things are not very professional.

And who the heck buys a defective fridge, car, air gun, etc and just say "Welp, dems the breaks". You return it and get what you paid for. We don't have that option and most of us WANT to use the product. I think it's great when it's working properly. I just want to do my thing without wrestling with glitches and having to find workarounds for every third feature.

Exactly!
Well put Beep.

I agree with Danny. Some of the stuff that happens here when the "bakers" do show up is unbelievable.

If you feel ya gotta go , then go. But the reason is because of no patch? OMG!

1-3 could have something to do with the snaps function "last touched" turn it off.2? set it up and save it in screentsets, it saves zoomed settings.4-wiggle my mouse.....next.5 haven't seen this happen yet.6 the crashing, if its crashing 10 times a day, it could be something other than sonar.a soundcard, a plug in, hard drive, ram.

Now that was well put…

I was never a bug collector growing up. I hate bugs. But spiders are even worse. They're a "fix". Sure, they eat the bugs, but create a whole new nest of problems.

I don't want to buy X3 to get a patches for X2, only to see more problems from new features.

If you are referring to my post it is none of those things. They have all been confirmed by other users and I've had many a looong thread trying to resolve these problems (some where even bakers showed up). They are glitches with the software and need to be fixed. The graphics and user interaction parts of the program are unstable. It's like a project starts to slowly corrupt over time. Not sure what starts the downward spiral. Wish I did.

When users are having enough trouble for whatever the reasons and they
wind up on the fence trying to decide which way to fall it sure doesn't make
sense to push them away...if you want them on your side.

Has Cakewalk been pushing more than pulling? To each his own and my answer
is yes. I was forced into making a decision and made it. I decided to wait and see
their next move and if it wasn't what I liked...game over. Easy.

The cool part is I don't feel the need to spend time troubleshooting, resolving issues
or complaining. Just wait and see how they've been spending their time and if they need
more time...it won't be on my dime. No biggy to me either way...results pay their bills or not,
not mine.
