If you are referring to my post it is none of those things. They have all been confirmed by other users and I've had many a looong thread trying to resolve these problems (some where even bakers showed up). They are glitches with the software and need to be fixed. The graphics and user interaction parts of the program are unstable. It's like a project starts to slowly corrupt over time. Not sure what starts the downward spiral. Wish I did.

I think he was referring  to my post beep buddy :)

Ah, yeah. Didn't make sense. Guess I'm just ornery thinking about it. This damned heat wave is frying my brain too.

Of the three DAWs that I use I enjoy the workflow in X2 far and away the best for what I do most of the time. I can honestly say I love the Multi-dock. That said, I'm not all that thrilled about what I perceive as quirkiness with how X2 behaves - non of which are enough motivation to leave the party but they do make me wonder if maybe I should.

I also have born witness to a big difference in how other vendors have responded in releasing multiple N.n updates to their respective products while Cakewalk has been MIA in approximately same timeline. That gives me pause to consider also.

At is stands I'm still cheering for Cakewalk to deliver. Here's hoping they will.

Feel much the same as Mike does above me.

For the most part X2 is the DAW I want to be using for the somewhat curious reason that I like its simplicity. Reaper and Cubase give me fits with all the gazillion menu options, preferences and so on. Been on Sonar since 8.5 so I'm comfortable with its tools and options and this means a heck of a lot to me. I'd much rather make music than learn another application right now.

But saying all that I have lost work due to X2's occasional crashes. I always send the bug report to Cake so I'm a little bewildered as to why we haven't seen another update.

Right now I think a little news would go a long way to keeping us Sonar users happy.

Additionally, Cubase 7.0.5 was not released as a "surprise gift".  It was well-communicated beforehand, down to what was fixed/improved.

7.0.6 was even mentioned by a Steinberg rep in the 7.0.5 release thread!  Their users are not speculating & guessing whether there will be another update.  Yes, all software has bugs.  But a company that communicates with its customers to continuously improve a product already in hand is one that gets my support.

I am pretty happy with x2A and an update would be nice but wouldn't be a needed thing for me.
I just hope the effects of a dissonance from cake hasn't lost users.
I have seen the forum worse, but never gone this long with out hearing something.

Not to pour a dark cloud on all this, I was perusing the Steinberg Cubase forum, and I can only say, WOW! I was very impressed, and much so how involved Steinberg was acknowledging issues. More, I was impressed at how their forum is laid out, how they categorize the threads (Issues => Reported Issues, Collected Issues, Solved Issues, Misc, just as an example).

Even moderators would chime in to an open issue and say, "We could not reproduce. Could you check the repro and if possible write it more precise?" I've also seen, "I'll look into that.", and the best one, "Solved in 7.0.3.". I can't help it, I'm digging that forum!

CW should take note here, and I'm sorry if this sounds like a real slap in the face, but as a customer, I only want to get the best experience from where I spent my $$.

don't get me wrong, ive had sonar crash just because of sonar before but typically continuous crashes are something other.

I do agree though, a little communication from the cakers would be nice.
and the lack of an update (yes even one) is a little concerning.
I cant say im not able to go about my day though and be very productive.
im not being held back by show stoppers, annoyed ? why yes I am.
there are several little quirks about x2 that gets on my nerves.

sorry man, not here to crash the party,
we do share some mutual feelings on the issue.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your response.

I don't use "last touched", so I doubt 1-3 are a result of it and a screenset to save zoom level seems impractical to me, as I zoom in and out to varying degrees all the time. Additionally, that approach doesn't seem like less of a workaround than zooming back in when it happens. Wiggling the mouse is not that big a deal; however, it's another workaround that wouldn't be necessary if they'd fix the bug, which is all I'm asking.

Regarding the crashes, I suppose a piece of hardware could be going; I've had the same setup for 3 years, so I'll keep that in mind. My guess, though, is that it has to do with a 3rd-party plugin or two as I have certain projects that crash frequently and others that never do. Whether that would be Cakewalk's responsibility or the 3rd-party developer's is a matter of debate.

I don't find any of these things to be showstoppers either; they're just, as you say, annoyances. Perhaps it's an unrealistic expectation, but I just wish they'd fix a few more bugs along the way. I know folks want them to "get it right", but do they have to get everything right before an update's worthy of release? Why not appease the masses from time to time with their work-in-progress?

Given the discontent for many surrounding X2, I would be AMAZED if they had the cheek to release a paid upgrade aka X3 before releasing patches for X2 to actually iron out the many known and well documented bugs. How its taken them so long to address this can only be down to re-structuring the company as noted by someone in a previous post..... or at least I hope so, they seem pretty decent guys so im sure there is an explanation.... not that we will ever hear it.
You can bet your backside if the next release ends in 3 and not b then you will be asked to pay for the privilege. I for one can't see that happening, not only would that be morally wrong, it would also encourage many of the already disenchanted people to jump ship for good.
The fact that X2 and its reliability seems to depend just as much on the way you work within it as it does with its hardware compatibilities is a little disconcerting for me. I truly hope that Roland doesn't see cakewalk as an insignificant fish in the sea, because it is a great DAW for all it's faults and needs to be fully realised. If that happens, I can't see any other software touching it.
