Stop being arrogant Roland/Cakewalk and "talk" to your clients!

Maybe we need an new forum tab like "Bug's reports" , and with someone from CW
have a dialog with the customers, answering the post's and report it
to the dew team immidiatly.

I don't usually chime in on these topics, but to be fair, If they're really working hard on making the next offering right and are fixing the major bugs, no matter what it's called, they deserve our patience. Yes it would be great if someone was keeping us abreast on the progress but I doubt seriously that their silence is a result of dissing us or being callused to our needs.

If I have a voice on where my money goes, X2b, and I'll pay for it gladly. I wished X2a would have fixed all our issues, but that wasn't the case, and in fact for me, it subtracted some performance, but that being said, I'd pay $99 for X2b to not have to sink $699 in Cubase 7, which is a likely move if X3 comes next.

Surprisingly, I'm with you on paying for a genuine maintenance update, if they did not pollute it with untested candy.  Yet I don't blame others for being appalled by this thought.  I'd even donate to them, kickstarter style, if they put their cards on the table and needed it.

However, a release of any kind (X2b, X3) without a promise for communication and some level of transparency is not acceptable for my business.  A modern DAW software company cannot put out releases "as is" then disappear for 6 months (+ however much longer it will be).  Others seem fine with wondering and hoping for the best, but I need more, and I don't feel it is unreasonable or impatient to expect more.

And FYI:  The full retail for Cubase 7 is $499, and many deals can be found.

I'm sure many of you already know how badly I've responded to the entire X line... And then 3 steps forward and 2 steps back and as I was getting used to the workflow they threw a wall in front of me with Lanes...

But I must say that unless they change something else in the pricing, they have been quite generous. Subscription based? They have always been that as far as between major releases (yearly) and have given us numerous updates every year... And the updates usually have many new features other than numerous fixes. In the new Roland era model they are still doing this, but fewer releases and an extra sales promotion instead of a paid update every other year....

My picture of this? They are stretching the development cycle to attempt increasing sales numbers vs. paid release... Must look better on the shareholder's report... ;-)

I hope every day that some embers of 12Tones raises it's head and stuns the world in surviving the changes imposed since the sale of the company... (Shares)

I for one still hope it does survive. It would be a shame if a company such as Roland, who have developed so many music tools for the world, crushed the life out of this wonderful product. Many of us who have been with them for the lifespan of the company will remember (I'm sure) the countless wonderful surprises they have always brought us (eventually)...

So I try to be patient, but as I age I have less time to wait!

Hi all,i'm very tired of these threads.....I had not any single problems with X2a maybe...my system is blessed...but to restore the reputation of Cakewalk so harshly attacked in many posts, this is the news on the more respected DAW...(not for me).
KVR news:
  • New Avid Audio Engine — Delivers multiple times the processing power of Pro Tools 10 on the same hardware configurations.
  • 64-bit architecture — Exponentially increases the number of simultaneous virtual instruments and the performance to handle the most sophisticated sessions.
  • Offline bounce — Delivers mixes up to 150 times faster than real time.
  • Low-latency input buffer — Ensures ultra-low latency record monitoring without sacrificing plug-in performance.
  • Dynamic host processing — Maximizes plug-in count by reallocating processing resources as needed.
Expanded metering:
  • Extended standards support — Features a broad range of built-in metering standards, from peak and average to VU and PPM, to maintain adherence to regional broadcast requirements.
Gain reduction — Shows gain reduction for all dynamics plug-ins on each channel

This features are in Sonar 7.......i mean "Off line bounce"!!!!!..
Maybe we should know and appreciate what we have.
No offense to anyone.
Best

Like Keni I have the same frustrations with replacing Layers with the broken Lanes that
haven't been addressed or fixed.
Because of this & other issues I also started demoing new DAWS & wound up purchasing Cubase7.
I do hope they get things squared away. I've only used Cakewalk for my projects since the late '90s but that's not the case any longer.
No DAW is without flaws, I'll still use Sonar but not as my first or only option.

Isn't the C note I pay every year the price of my annual support?

This reminds me when Microsoft released Windows Phone 8 last year and did not release SDK beta before because their marketing strategy was to surprise customers with new features. Unfortunately for Microsoft, the customers were surprised, but with the lack of application (just because developers did not have the SDK because of sick people from marketing).

Sometimes are marketing strategies really stupid. I hope that this will not happen with Sonar. Open communication with customers is important.

I'm a light DAW user so when I encounter any of the minor bugs with selection, PRV, and take lanes, I assume I'm doing something wrong instead of assuming a bug.  Takes a lot of time to figure out that it wasn't me.  I've been using Sonar since 8.5 and love the direction X2 went but, for me as well, the lack of communication has been offputting and uncharacteristic.  My DAW activity has picked up recently and these issues are getting harder to ignore putting me on the fence as well.
