Jeez these whole "computer A versus computer B" fights have been going on at least since I was a kid, and back then it was ZX Spectrum versus Commodore 64. I still think the C-64 was the better machine by miles (of course it was - it had the SID chip). But 30 years later, what does it matter?

The ZX Spectrum vs C64 debate was really lame.  The Atari vs Apple II debate had way more features and was a lot easier for a beginner to get started with.

Jbow..did not mean to imply mp3s don't work on iPhones, iPad, etc. I just find it silly that one has to go throigh a conversion process to plau a file format that plays directly on even $5 generic devices. The forced use of b itunes is sething we get used to but I do find myself using my android phone for music more than my nanopod due to the ease of dragging and dropping Vs wanting for itunes to convert mp3 and every other format. Not to mention how it takes extra steps to share my own music with someone else if I am using apple

What ?

You can put mp3's on an i device and play them, no problem. Why convert them ?

Also there are other freewares you canuse other than iTunes for the transfer.

Cheers,
Jerry

SONAR has one more chance with me too. If they change my work flow for the worse, I am bailing. X2B has to solidify what made 8.5 great with innovative features of X1. Solidify those aspects of SONAR and Roland may keep some clients.

That above, has been my worst experience which if you think about it, though it's important and something that can be annoying, it's not been the end of the world. But, when my work flow is forced to change and that change is not something that I feel is for the better, it's easy to have a hissy fit. I like options whenever possible. The more options the better. I like the ability to do things I may have been able to do before instead of being forced to do things I really do not enjoy. I'm still having a hard time with right click lasso in X2 to the point of really getting angry. I'd like the choice to use left click like I used to.

FWIW, I have to agree with very much disliking many of the workflow changes and the now somewhat flaky 'event editor' which I use quite often.  Not just X1->X2, but 8.5->X1.  Seeing as how I had a new learning curve, it seemed only logical to take the opportunity to look at other DAW software.

There are third party software that will transfer items to an apple device...but every now and then Apple releases and "update that totally hoses that software.   The bottom line is one should not have to convert an mp3.  And yes, apple products convert all mp3s even if it seems seamless. You will not find an mp3 on an ipod or ipad library

My daughter bought an used iMac laptop about 1.5 years ago. It died about 6 mo ago. She loved it until it died and to fix it was more than buying a good laptop with W8,  She got a Lenovo and it happy with it.

Great Steve Jobs's Ghost!

A Mac dying? What will the cool kids think?

Brilliant. And the point of this was - to ridicule Apple and provoke people using Mac? To educate people? Do you honestly believe that people are actually that stupid that they need your guidance to make their mind about Apple? In which case you may understand why I feel your sarcasm derogatory. Or is it beyond you to just participate to the discussion w/o constantly provoking others?

Do you need to make yourself feel better over your computer platform of choice that badly? Man, I'm glad you don't own a Mac because you would be one of those Apple cultist/raving fanatics who give the rest of Mac users a bad rep...

Aww for crying out loud, you take that as bait? Sheesh...

As for cool kids, yeah, there are a lot of them, but that in no way means that every Apple user is. Still, generalities are useful as summaries - and a lot of Apple users fit the bill. A ribbing on Apple in a Windows product forum isn't all that unusual...nor is a bit of snobbery in in an Apple product forum.

The rest of the post seems a bit of a projection, and sarcasm isn't an issue for most people. It can be problem for those with self-image or narcissistic issues.

Is n't an MPEG file an MP3?  My iTunes shows that I have numerous MPEG files mixed in with the AAC files.  I'm not really up on this, maybe they have been modified in some way, but I thought the MPEG's were just MP3's?
