Hello, I'm having problems with Latency and Sonar X2 (Producer), I'm trying to use the Fishman Triple Play Controller to record tracks (piano/synth/etc) in my DAW, I've tried: Edit > Preference > Midi Device and so on, and still latency. On it's own through my computer there's no latency problem, but as a VST patch there seem to be. I did have some latency problems before with my Midi Keyboard but some nice Cakewalk Forum members helped me, and no more latency problems with the keys! I'm also using a RME Babyface audio interface. If anyone has any idea's, I could really use the help?

Thank You!

Mike.

John
Lower your audio buffer in your babyface if using ASIO. If using WDM/KS you can lower it within X2.

Hi Mike,

Any reason you're using the FTP as a VST rather than using the driver? I'm using the driver and everything seems to be working fine, although I'm still learning how to setup the FTP.

Hello rsinger, I'm not using the FTP as a VST, I'm using it as a Midi Controller to drive my VST's within my DAW (Sonar). I have my Audio Interface
(RME Baby Face) buffer at 128, any lower and there's noise, higher rates increases the "Latency" but as of this moment, I'm having difficulty with the lag? (Between the recorded sections and playing live to lay down piano etc.) Also I'm barely pushing my computer, I'm certain that's not the problem, when I monitor the CPU Cores, there not even reaching 1/4 of there usage.

I've tried the Cakewalk Information: Edit > Preference > Audio Driver, but it leads me back to the RME (Baby Face) I'm kind of frustrated and I'm not sure what to do? (I am using ASIO).

When I use my Midi Keyboard "Axiom" I don't seem to have any Latency problems, but I'm a Guitarist that would like to record keys & synth.

Any idea's would be extremely appreciative

Thanks!

I want one bad!  But now I don't so can't help you much.  But for starters, fill in the questionnaire about the stuff you have so it shows up when you post.  Does the FTP track well (~<7ms) with it's own software provided. Did you load the software that came with it?  If not, try this load the FTP, close all, hard boot the PC/MAC (make sure the USB dies as well, some of those powered USB splitters give me fits), then run X2.  If this doesn't work, get on the phone with Fishman, while they still have their army of software engineers to figure this s$%t out.  Fishman does pickups, as you might as well know, this is their first endeavor, and I'm glad they are in the game.  Cheers

Hello TheBassist, Quick rundown of my gear

*Windows 7 Professional
*Intel 6600 Quad Core
*8gb Ram
*Glyph External Hard Drive (Only as a backup drive to save content) Primary drive used for all recording applications.
*All VST Instruments are from Cakewalk, (True Piano 32 & 64) etc.
*Sonar Producer x2 (latest version & patches)
*RME Baby Face
*Summit Audio 2BA-221 Preamp (only used for real time recording of guitar/vocals etc. anything that needs Tube Pre) Most of the time out of signal path.

I'm trying to use the FTP as a Midi Controller with my VST through Cakewalk (Sonar).

The FTP on it's own, with it's own software has almost no noticeable Latency.

I was hoping it would be the same as my Midi Controller, with almost No Latency

Also Thank You for your suggestions, any Idea would be awesome!

Additionally it seems when I have Sonar open and I try to save a sound from the Fishman software, (not my VST) my computer crashes? I also tried the software that came with the FTP, NI/IK and when I go to save, or close the system Crashes.

I'll need to keep playing with it :) maybe I should have looked more into a better Midi Controller to drive my VST's

Thank thank again!!!

I've been doing one of two things inside Sonar X2a with the FTP. Either way I use the midi driver for the FTP just like I would any other midi controller - gr33, gr55, A300Pro.

In the first case I'm just using the FTP controller the way it is setup so all I need in Sonar is a soft synth. In the other case, if I want to mess around with the controls of the FTP, I also bring in the FTP as a VST, but just have it setup as a hardware synth - the FTP VST instance is just there to IF with the FTP controls. Either way it's working fine for me.

Are you just enabling the first FTP midi device? I'm told the second device that shows up in the driver is just for the FTP SW. Have you checked out the Future Guitar Now forum? There is a fair amount of info there about the FTP.

There are a number of people using Sonar & FTP so they seem to be working fine together.

I contacted Fishman today (05-03-2013) and they stated that there are issues with Triple Play and Sonar X2, they did suggest "JBridge" and a few other options, Also on "Future Guitar Now" forum if you research it, you'll find a number of members disappointed in the Latency, so my situation is not isolated and Fishman is aware of it.

Thanks!
