I'm new to this board, so if I'm not giving everything I need for diagnosis, please forgive me..  : (

I have a fairly simple setup that consists of:

Sonar 8 Studio running on an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.

I'm using an M-audio Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0 for my interface. Buffers on Sonar and M-Audio set at 512.

I've gone through the optimization guide for Vista and disabled non-critical Windows services, etc...disabled graphics and wireless services/network cards as well as all other sound/recording devices.

Here's the kicker: I've used the M-Audio AND all of the same cables for a test in GarageBand on my Mac and it works fine!

I really want to be able to use Sonar, but right now, I just can't rely on it. Has anyone heard of an issue with the USB ports on the HP dv4? Are there ideal settings for Windows Vista that I can try on the audio tab? Any help is appreciated...and if there's any more information that you need from me, I'm happy to supply it..Thanks..!!!

Welcome to the forum.
One of the female members of the forum wrote, I think 2 years ago, that she had forgotten the Windows search tool active with the dog animation. The dogs scratching came through everything.
OTOH, you could define the scratching sound a little better? Do you have any demo/unregistered versions of plugins running?

Hey Kalle,

Thanks for responding...I was able to work around this issue by re-imaging my laptop to a previous restore point. Additionally, I'm using the higher speed eSATA USB port rather than the other 2.0 ports.

Sonar 8 has an Audio tab where you can set the reported latency...and when I put in 366, it seemed to fix it. We'll see...hard to get my hopes up..!!!
