I'll never understand this program. Sometimes I right click on a note in the staff view and I get the note properties and more often than not, I get this pop up menu. Sometimes I can click the middle mouse button and go to another tool and right click and get the note properties and sometimes I can't. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Why is ths hit or miss but mostly miss?

I cannot prove this, but I believe this started sometime around X1d.  I have used Sonar since before it was Sonar, but this is a new and very annoying behavior.

Does it just happen to be the lowest note or the last not on that staff.  See this all the time just add another random note and immediately delete it works for me but I make no promises. 

Staff view only? Well... you know that whole aspect of Sonar is kind of a hot mess. However I think there are lots of problems due to graphics weirdness that causes hotspots to move/disappear/trigger the wrong thing/not work at all/etc. I've had many many things not work as I worked through the manual and thought they were bugs with that function but now I am starting to realize those things DO work but the GUI is doing something weird and preventing the function from being performed. I'm assuming this is because they went in and ripped apart the graphics section of the program to make way for touchscreen stuff. It is very unlikely I will ever use a touch screen beyond MAYBE using a tablet to control transport remotely while tracking. I said it right from the start... leave the touchscreen stuff right out of the core program. Make it so those who want it have an option to install it but it operates as some kind of skin.
 
I don't know how they coded this stuff nor am I a programmer but the graphical interaction and graphics in general are a mess in X2. It really is my only real problem but it effects so much. I'm even starting to think the selection bug is actually a graphical interface error manifesting itself in horrible ways.
 
If the touchscreen stuff is gonna stay at least make sure us point and clickers can still do what we need to.
