  • Another reason I HATE X2 - 5 old 8.5 projects won't open in X2

These are big projects with about 3G in them each. They open fine in 8.5 but will not play after opening in X2. I get the 'busy' message for the wavefiles trying to be drawn and they never do, or at least the 20 mins I waited for them to draw they didn't. I think they are 8.5 projects. Some of the file are 2k7 dated.

They open and play fine in 8.5.

X2 just isn't ready for my prime time. I am very sorry I bought it...

Time to make TS feel my pain...

Don't hurt the TS folks too much. :)

Get your project up on dropbox, we'll take a look.

Thanks Ryan, I do not have a drop box account. Are there isttructions how to upload to one of your FTPs, or are you only using drop box now?

on hold it said one minute, now 7 mins later...

I know this may be basic but have you verified track/bus outputs in these projects?

Wave forms won't be drawn in those cases, you'll see the '(Busy)' message, and you most certainly wouldn't hear anything.

I have large projects from way back and they open fine in X2. All my projects open in X2.

I would list what is in them that might cause a problem.

for some reason, the playback timing master got set to none. I was playing projects earlier without issue. Thes older projects got interpreted and caused X2 to reset the playback master to none. The TS guy was quick to note the timing playback option. Good call. All of the projects now open. If the bakers are eager to pursue what happened between projects, I can try a recreate. I have had no success so far with a recreate of the playback timing master resetting to none.

I have no idea how the global parm got reset to none since I did not go into the global parms at all. Most all of my older projects open without issue.

These projects now open and play after a visit with TS.

you just have to wonder what logic would prohibit a waveform from being drawn if a track or master bus is wrong??  What does a waveform have to do with a bus or the playback timing master in my case?

Perhaps they could be opened in safe mode in X2a, to see if they opened, then saved off to a new project folder.

IF that worked, perhaps we could collectively try to figure out what is in them that is causing X2a to freak out.

The above is based on a thought that perhaps something with plugins is causing these issues, and by opening in safe mode, all of that could be initially bypassed - to save under new project folders, then plugs could be re-introduced one at a time, until some pattern is discovered as to what is causing the trauma.

Sorry, it looks like I missed your earlier post, which you may have put out there while I was typing up my grand notion on approaching things from a diagnostic stand point.

Another anomaly is each of the tracks are 100% panned left in these older projects.
