I paid for the upgrade of Mixbus 3 and I thought I would be good to go until Mixbus 4. Now they bring out Mixbus 32C. And then want $149 for the program. I find this a bit discouraging. I paid for one upgrade and it will probably be the last.

Not sure I understand this sentiment, are you upset simply that they've released another product, or are you under the impression that the release of it will mean no more updates for Mixbus?

I put 32c on my 27" (1920x1080) and the controls were a tad small. Not unusable but def squintable.

On my 30" (2560x1600) the mixer is almost perfect.

I imagine on a 17" laptop screen it would become unusable for me. I do not have plans to use it that way, so no biggie.

But, how does it sound compared to MB3? Would it be worth the investment, say just for mixing and mastering?

I am under the impression that the new product will undermine the current work for Mixbus 3.3

What makes you think that? Remember the underlying DAW is Ardour so that's still going to be developed at the same rate regardless of what Harrison's doing to the DSP at their stage. And most software manufacturers work on multiple projects at the same time.

I have had nothing but driver problems on my desktop rig with ver. 3 and Sonar getting along. They seem to work fine on my laptop. This makes it not worth upgrading for me. Very sad, because I do love tracking and mastering in 3.3. The sound is great but not worth spending more money on software that creates nothing but headaches. Maybe when they iron out the problems with Studio-Capture drivers I will consider bumping up but for now I will stay where I'm at!!!

Sidroe,

Did you try the "Use Buffered IO" in the startup with your OctaCapture? That was implemented almost specifically for Roland drivers.

Have not spent enough time with it yet, but I suspect it will at least be different since it was modeled on the 32C and MB3 was modeled on their 90s digital console's DSP.

Sidroe,

I had big issues myself in the last 2 days until I read somewhere that you need to cycle that "buffered IO" button every time you start Mixbus (even if lit from last time, then you need to click twice i.e. off and on again, presumably it is not properly saved). Somehow this seems to have cured all my start-up issues. Mixbus now starts fine everytime using the Roland driver and releases it when I exit the software. Hope it stays like that. Haven't messed with it enough, though, to make it crash (so I can't say what happens to the driver in that case)

Thanks for the buffer tip. I'll give it a try!

Hey, Bapu! I tried the buffer switch and still no love from Mixbus and Sonar!!! I think it probably is Mixbus and Sonar just will not share the ASIO driver between themselves. Mixbus 3 still works on my laptop alongside of Sonar but the Focusrite is too few inputs to do live recording. It will work for mastering purposes though. I guess I'll just have to say goodbye to Mixbus as far as 24-32 track live capture! It worked great with Mixbus 2 but 3 has really been an ordeal. I will do some research in to how to get an ASIO driver shared without these problems.
I do appreciate the help!

Sidroe,

I wonder if it because you use 2 Roland devices?
