  • TO ALL Experiencing Freeze Up or White Out When Inserting Soft SYnths, Plug Ins...et al

Noel dropped by one of our threads regarding this problem and reminded me to try clicking on the task bar of WIN7 while X2a is freezing after inserting a soft synth ...32/64 ..any and all of them.

It Works! the process that temporarily freezes X2a stops and the program snaps back into "normal" operation...

SO to sum it up....

I choose a soft synth ...any synth
When I press "OK" I click on the task bar right after ...the freeze that had been temporarily halting progress stops and the program resumes its' "ready" status...

If what I am typing makes no sense to you ...then you are fortunate not to have this problem
If you are experiencing the same thing ...then you well know what I am talking about...

In my case ...this happens ONLY when I insert a soft synth ...it does not happen with plug ins as some users report

I'm sure this will result in a fix... the problem has been observed and a fix (of sorts) has evidenced itself.

That didn't work as you described.

The delay is caused because Sonar is creating tracks. If you uncheck the options for it to create tracks  while you're inserting a softsynth, there is no delay.

There is. I just loaded TTS-1, SI-bass, etc. deselecting the options for creating tracks and the screen still does not respond for 4-5 seconds. I don't see the white screen, though.

I get a four or five second delay too. What's the problem? I don't see this as a problem. No white screen though.  And this is on my home PC, not my music PC. It has an older quad core pentium, and 4gb ram, and ASIO4All in it. I expect a little delay.

It only happens when opening new soft synth. Not opening existing projects.

Some soft synth opens with a little delay, some no delay, and for me the Session Drummer 3 will freeze indefinitely - unless I move the mouse away to another monitor or to the task bar. If you're busy doing something else with the mouse while waiting for the soft synth to open, you may not realize this issue.

Try just opening Session Drummer 3 on the main window and do not move the mouse away - perhaps just to test if you can move the Session Drummer 3 pop up a little.

If you're not having this freeze issue, perhaps it only applies to some with a specific setting / hardware..

It's not an issue to me anymore once I knew about it..

daveny ... you must have a different situation... you were on the other thread where Noel described this ...it does work as I explained on my computer and others too...  Also your advice was followed and the situation reacted the same... SO ...let's look for why... and that will be in the hands of the programmers...

Grem ...it's something many of us did not experience prior to the X2a update... I never experienced this phenomenon

Thanks ALL for the input ...it all helps to solve problems when we communicate like this

The delay is not due to the CPU or RAM. It is due to your hard drive having to load the code for the softsynth. Maybe you have a slow drive or a drive with not much cache or free space or maybe it needs to be defragged although I believe Windows 7 and 8 automatically defrag your hard drive periodically.

So does everyone else who is experiencing this problem have a slow drive or not enough space? Doesn't seem like it.
