I have a usb mackie profx16 does it act as an external sound card? but even before when I plug an mp3 player to the mic input of the computer sound card it crackles and and pops and the line input doesn't even let me select it. I like everyone suggestions. thank you so much.
that Mackie does not use soundcard drivers,
"No Driver Required for Supported Windows (PC) or OS X (Mac) Versions"http://www.mackie.com/products/profx16/there for it is not made for professional soundcard uses, but no need to worry.
download and install this soundcard
http://www.asio4all.com/ this is way better than your onboard soundcard that came with your computer.
that card is not able to keep up with pro digital audio. if not youll just get pops and crakles...latency..exc.
you need to use ASIO for your driver, not mme or wmd.
setting up sonar is half the trick man.
heres a quick video on installing and setting up asio4all.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsRtduINN8I this will have you making music in 20 minutes if you set it up correctly.
I used it for awhile inbetween soundcards and had good results.
a lot of others use it here for temporary band aids.
