Howdy All...
I've posted this report before. After posting it, I got great help from Jim Roseberry in optimising my WIN7 based ASUS G55 laptop. Everything works great ...except the part when inserting any soft synth.
 
What happens?
After inserting the synth ...X2a goes into "mixdown" mode ...temporarily freezing the program.
After a brief but complete screen whiteout ...everything is fine...
 
Others have reported very closely matching circumstances.
I know this is a bug because it did not occur before updating to X2a.
 
This system is really tweaked well by Jim ...it's doing some very complicated things admirably.
 
 

Can you try to move the mouse to the taskbar (so the taskbar comes up.. assuming you have it set to auto hide) and see if the Sonar unfreeze almost immediately ?
 
In some situation, this may help my system to respond faster.. but this is not a solution.

This is one of many bugs I also encounter. Just incase there's a link, I also have freezes on Pro channel eq and when switching between screen sets. Do you?

Do you notice too that when this is happening Sonar shows "Processing Tracks" progress bar in the control bar?
 
 
I just noticed this the other day.

Are you sure its just not loading the soft synth's samples into RAM? I do not get any delays or freezes with the Pro-channel, but the soft synth could be because its loading into RAM in real time

That has also been my experience. The delay is about 3-4 seconds, then a flash of white and everything is back to normal.

I think we're all having a similar experience ...
 
CJ... it is beyond me to surmise anything... it doesn't have to do with the samples loading ...that I know of ...but it's a darn good guess. Perhaps the software is now processing things differently as of X2a

rbecker: we have similar systems as reported in our sigs ...although I'm sure it isn't unique to our system setup, that information could lead to a path of resolution...

I did a windows update today and I've just noticed my current project isn't doing it anymore.
 
Might just be a coincidence though.

I just moved from X2 Studio to X2 Producer. The problem seems to be gone.
