Are "DAW Best Practices" published anywhere?

Mixing Audio is superb. It is written in a clear and understandable style, but yet even a very seasoned professional can learn from it. I got useful stuff out of every chapter and plan to reread it. If you get a new copy, it will come with audio examples on a DVD.

The DVD doesn't come with it anymore, however you can download all of the material from the author's website.

It was the sound samples of exactly what he was talking about the really helped me out. I could finally "hear" what I was trying to learn! (if that makes any sense :)

I'm reading Roey Izhaki's "Mixing Audio" at the minute (got the e-book cheap from the link I posted above) and I have to say its one of the best textbooks I've ever read. After having spent a year at this audio game I felt ready to tackle a more thorough, technical text on the subject and this is perfect. I'm learning so much. It's the perfect compliment to Mike Senior's book - the two of them are a winning combination IMO.

Could not agree more. Both books are treasures. And you have something very nice to look forward to. I've read them both twice and they're even better the second time through. Seriously!
