(This is probably the most appropriate thread for this, I don't think I need to start a new one).

The tipping point for me came three weeks ago when I made this forum post: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Strange-linked-clips-behaviour-m2852454.aspx

...and also submitted a corresponding bug report to Cakewalk.  No response to either.  This particular bug, along with intermittent loop-timing issues and poor handling of notes which are orphaned when splitting clips (read: 'crazy behaviour') make using the application an exercise in teeth-grinding futility for me.  I'm tired of spending over an hour just trying to manipulate a single bar of music satisfactorily and giving up in frustration as a result.

So for the past couple of weeks I've been using FL Studio and have been having...fun.  Yes, fun.  It's made me realise that I haven't actually had fun with a piece of music software since Cubase 2 on the Atari STFM.  I certainly don't regret buying Sonar or supporting Cakewalk; at the very least I still get to use the fantastic set of synths and effects that ship with it.

If Cakewalk produce an X2b bug fix patch, which I hope they do, I'll certainly take a look.  I also hope that they decide to include functionality which really should be bog-standard in their flagship product; mp3 export comes to mind, for example.  However, if their next offering is a paid-for upgrade, I don't think I'll be tempted.

What was your CWBRN number for the bug report?

I'm wondering whether the lack of an X2b means Cake are writing new code for X3. Which could be good . . . or could be buggy bad!

I know, you're in the dark on this one, too. Man, I feel ya, but at this point, I'm just going to accept whatever we get. It's not up to us what Cakewalk provides next. C'est la vie, my friends!

We all are.    I guess it's just a matter of one's fear of the dark.
I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.   Although, I'm getting along well with X2 so I'm hoping there's little learning curve involved.   For whatever that's worth.

Is 'advertising' competing software considered worse than advertising kitchens?

I'm working fine in X2a, just not using the all features I was sold.

Kitchens requires an immediate permanent ban! :)

Mentioning competitor software features as a comparison can be productive. But advertising competitors software here or trying to pursuade users to switch to a competitor software is low.

How come? All of the debate has been extremely respectful I think? Its good insight for Cakewalk too. The fact that people are still contributing to this forum after switching to C7 shows they are still vested and hoping that Cakewalk produces a great release.
