Oh... and I did not drop a dime into Vista. I tried it. I hated it. I waited and bought 7. I've seen 8 and I know I won't like it so I'll stick with 7. Why would I pay for something that isn't gonna do what I want it to? That's all it comes down to for me. I have loyalty to people (like some of the awesome folks I've met here and even some of the Bakers who have helped me out), not inanimate objects or corporations.
Again... I love X2. It just needs some fixin'.
Before Vista. Cakewalk was probably the only DAW, with Sonar, to be developed for the 64 bit OS. I suppose Cakewalk products are too integrated into the Microsoft OS'es. Steinberg went 64 bit only at Widows 7.
Steinberg, Reaper, Studio One etc. they are all coded more independent of the Operating System and thus able to "wrap" the OS around them. This probably is a weakness of Cakewalk's way of Sonar; being more dependent on the advancement of Windows.
Its July '13 already: Should Cakewalk give us what has been coded for their next cycle as a free update, as X2b? Then it most likely will not fix 100 percent of issues for 100 percent of end users. Then a demand for X2c will emerge. At which point Steinberg releases Cubase 8 as Sonar users demands perfection at X2x and so on.........
