Keni... But with all the lane/zoom issues it took forever fiddling with changing/adjusting zooms repeatedly...

Keni, lane size limitations aside, what zoom issues do you come across on a regular basis?   I know you've mentioned zoom adjustments before so I'm just curious.

Hi Steve...

First off, I can't zoom large enuf to see well (lanes), and if I use the zoom tool to lasso a specific area I end up with a view that's stretched long, but not tall... To get as close as the new system will allow I must zoom from two places...

First I drag the track control area to the tallest it will allow, then move my mouse to the timeline and use the zoom feature there to handle the width... Too much mouse work! (And still not as zoomed as I want/need)...

Using zoom doesn't even stay to the single track when zooming and I get a few other tracks as well as the track with lanes...

Undo gets lost in a myriad of changing screen sets as well as zooms and with all the multiple commands issued has far too many steps/clicks...

I spend far too much time re-sizing my screen between operations than ever before... Often getting lost as I can't figure out where it has taken me.... Away from where I was working...

Things were difficult for me in X to begin with and the lanes have caused a non-stop nightmare of workflow for me...

Ah.. so it is specifically when lanes are involved?   Gotcha.   I thought maybe there was some "regular" track work in there somewhere too.

Personally, lane size and what's displayed on the parent track are my two biggest issues with lanes as they are.  I've read some other good ideas about how they could be enhanced as well, but I'd take size and visibility over anything else if I had to really narrow it down.

Yes Steve...

Specifically with lanes... A feature I am not happy about even if they fix it... But something of the sort (layers) has so well suited my work that this new pain of lanes is a major "in my face" issue...

I tried using tracks an no lanes, but that has a myriad of issues that makes it not well suited for me anymore... I must use lanes all day long in "frustration"...

I've got some good ideas ok... ;-)

Oh... and I did not drop a dime into Vista. I tried it. I hated it. I waited and bought 7. I've seen 8 and I know I won't like it so I'll stick with 7. Why would I pay for something that isn't gonna do what I want it to? That's all it comes down to for me. I have loyalty to people (like some of the awesome folks I've met here and even some of the Bakers who have helped me out), not inanimate objects or corporations.

Again... I love X2. It just needs some fixin'.

The backend of Win8 is amazing, I have far less crashes than Win 7 (Like the HORRIBLE black screen of Death)

I also used Vista for years which completely wee'd on XP.

Win 8 has its nightmares in terms of GUI but when you learn to live with it, its great.

But thats the problem in this age, too much change and too quickly.

I want Sonar (and Windows) to address issues with the software we have paid for already, but maybe thats the gameplan.

Keni can I ask a question about the zoom issue you have?
It sounds like it is vertical zoom you need on the lane right?
Is that because the waveform in the clip is too small because of low recording level?

If so are you aware that you can change the scale of the wave by clicking a dragging up or down on the scale itself for each layer?

This does not change the hight of the lane but zooms vertically in on the clip.

Perhaps this is what you are already doing but I just thought I would mention it in case you were not aware of this feature.

Thanks Tom...

Yeah, I know about the waveform zoom and I do use that often as well... What I'm complaining about along with the zoom limitations is how many steps it takes to get zoomed and how much mouse movement it takes ...along with the issues that creates for going back to the view you were proviously at...

I tried working with screensets to find a way around this stuff, but that didn't help either as this zoom stuff happens on the fly and always needs relocating/selecting as the work demands...

I'm managing to get my work done so it's not a matter of "I can't", it's a matter of how long it takes to do and how frustrating it is to constantly repeat these actions throughout a project...

That was the best survey cakewalk have ever done so far. Much more realistic questions. Hope  users will fill it in and I hope Cakewalk will act on it.

I just got and filled out mine.  I just hope Cakewalk will take all of the survey responses seriously.

I hope so too...

But what "scares" me, is that they're first asking now thinking to do something where I (and most of us) have bben hoping that they already were doing it! <sigh>...

I sort of thought of this too, but I think that it may be more that they just realize that they're already really behind the eight ball and just need to see what the majority of customers here want to see get done & finished fairly soon, instead of plowing through all the forums to sort it all out.
