I have no problem with Cakewalk not divulging their strategic long range plan or any of the various components that may be a parcel to it. But I note, and not happily so, that other DAW vendors are providing their customers with their plans for updating their software. That strikes me as good customer relations. I'm troubled by Cakewalk's decision to remain mum regarding any updates to X2a.

I am pleased when any of the Calkwalk team chime in on these forums but so far at least they aren't divulging whether or not there is an update coming.

So we wait and watch and make as much music as possible in the meantime.

Regards,

exactly - i'm wondering if there's anything they can tell us yet, albeit in a more curmudgeonly fashion

I have Cubase4 installed here alongside X2 Producer.

The last time I had Cubase4 installed was on my last PC...I just downloaded the 64bit version recently and tried it out.

The reason I left Cubase was because they didn't fix all the bugs in Version2 before bringing out 3.
They didn't fix all the bugs in Version3 before bringing out 4.

When they brought out Version5 without fixing the bugs in 4 I said goodbye.

All DAWs have bugs, work around them if you can, if not then jump ship.

Not Cubase 7 or Studio One or Reaper.
They are the Bees' Knees.
The Cat's Meow.
The Head of the Class.
The Class of the Field.
The Bloom on the Rose.
The Better Mousetrap.

Good post
(Remember the good old days when Steinberg were called "the Borg" and "didn't give a f*%$? Now they are the model of customer service). My goodness

That's because of Yamaha, trust me. I think "The Borg" learned some lessons fast.

I'm hoping Summer Namm will bring something new.

I really wish cakewalk would fix all issues in a release before moving forward on a new paid for release. It's been my main concern with cakewalk for a long time.

If X3 turns out to a paid release, I would be forced to either not buy or buy into another DAW. I've already vested much cash into Cakewalk and Sonar to just move into another paid upgrade that could turn out to be just as buggy and crash-prone. In my opinion, X3 (if paid) would need to be less than $50.

Of course X3 would be a paid release, there's absolutely nothing in CW's history that would indicate otherwise.  Now whether X3 is the next SONAR to be released, that's what we do not yet know.

Either way, I'll be using whatever comes next, I always do.   I just hope that the difference in general stability and overall issues count that we saw between the X1 and X2 releases (a fairly noticable difference IMO) is again reflected in going X2 to X3.  That would be a very good thing.  And it makes this forum a nicer place to be.

Yamaha in general has excellent support.
