Pay to have bugs fixed. Of course we will. $100 for a year's use of Sonar Professional is to be considered too much???????
Way silly. I prolly used Sonar for about 10 hours a week average. About 500 hours per year. Equates to about 20 cents per hour to use Sonar, Dimension Pro, Rapture, Zeta2, Audio Snap, VVocal, Guitar rig, Perfect Space, Session Drummer,.... for a $99 yearly upgrade fee.
Just plain Stupid to argue for not paying to fix bugs.
Big mistake: Cakewalk/Roland Managers deciding to charge $100 per upgrade for the X series instead of the historical $179. And waiting nearly 2 years between X1 and X2.
They should have charged more. And updated more often to fix all the little bits, while adding features.
Continuing Major problems:
Focus on Xmas selling season. Way last century.
Not selling yearly subscription/support services. (A year's worth of updates, purchased whenever.)
Not providing a process for license transfer, including charging a fee ($25) to do so.
(Almost all the business logic code is already written. CW gets new customer/user. Secondary market increases the value of the software..... No losers here.)
Not charging enough.
Not releasing fixes as soon as fixed.
Not enough 3rd party support: Reaper has grown way fast because 3rd parties can program (extensions, macros, interfaces) and sell add-ons other than plugins. 3rd party support always increases a product's user base. And reduces promotion costs because the 3rd parties are sharing the activity.
Biggest stupidity: not recognizing the forums are the best source of ideas, feedback, and Company support. It is the least cost channel for customer issue resolution.
At least 2 full time, dedicated, persons should be assigned to the forums, and general communications.
Well, don't get me started.
