• SONAR
  • Banks are Skipped in INS file

I've got an Alesis Fusion 8HD workstation. My problem is that Sonar seems to "skip", or "add" a bank after the INS file reaches the 9th bank. I'm using Sonar 8.5, but I had X2 for awhile, and that did it as well. So, specifically, when I use Sonar's program change in the Track view, and choose a bank/program, every time I want to use a sound in bank 9 or higher, I have to use bank 10 to get the sound in bank 9, and so on. I know the Fusion doesn't use the LSB, or MSB (whatever) so that can't be the problem.

thanks,
KC

Just out of curiosity, why'd you ask yourself that ?

Thanks scook for at least trying to bring some mature sanity to the discussion.  I DID manage to resist returning the immaturity to ole Dano.  Instead I reported him to the moderator.  NOW, if I could just get an answer for my real issue.

How are myself or anyone else supposed to ascertain that there was a post deleted from your thread ? Or the one that Scook referred to. Clearly, a moderator should never have deleted posts in a thread and made no reference to the fact that he or she had. Furthermore, why would you report me to a mod for my not knowing why you made the post I quoted and my asking you such a obviously innocent question ?

I can see you have been around here as long as I have but you sure seem to be rather abrasive for no reason.

Fwiw, I have 4 different ins. files loaded into Sonar and have used them for years too. For a  Roland keyboard, 2 different Yamaha keyboards and a file for a Korg. I believe the Yamaha tyros has around 1300 voices (can't recall exactly) so it uses higher banks that you have indicated becomes problematic for you.

My experience is that some files are much better written that others for sure. I would strongly suspect that there is something wrong with the ins. file you have installed.  I have never seem such strange behavior as you are experiencing with your file when trying to select voices.

Just throwing it out there... someone was reported for spamming. I banned the member which deleted ALL of their posts. It's an automated process. I didn't go through each post and individually delete them and then snicker to myself that it would cause all kinds of confusion.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to cause chaos.

To the OP,

It sounds like the .ins file is written improperly. We've posted a KB article that has a link to a lot of instrument definitions we've collected over the years. I couldn't locate one for your hardware included in the collection. The article does have some instructions for creating your own if you need to dig in and modify the files yourself. Perhaps give this a look? http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013272
