hey kakku, i do the same thing, humming into my phone, when i'm not home to work on something haha.
anyway yea, technically what i do is background music, i mean my main medium is film score, so yea. but with these albums i try to push myself to build "songs" that have a bit more to them. i struggle with calling my genre electronica or alternative... it's hard to really classify 100%. the reason i think my music might seem either repetitive or like it could use more company like you said, is a combination of that film score background (my specialty in scoring is tension and mood stuff which tends to have a lot of repetition), but also because my biggest influences are groups where the music tends to stay the same a lot until a dramatic ending build... stuff like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails... I mean The Cure "Disintegration" is basically a 7 minute groove with little guitar and string pieces that happen on top here and there and it's one of my favorite songs ever :-) haha. still "Shadows on the Ceiling" has that middle section breakdown where things change for a little bit before the big end buildup, and then the music builds at the end until the electric guitar part which to me is like the climax of the song.
anyway, that's a lot of typing i just did haha but i love talking about my music and music in general. totally appreciate the comments. i always have room to grow and some of the songs on this new album are some of the most dynamic stuff i've done i think. i'll be sure to share more soon :-)
